'I hate it when I have nothing to do,' she looked at the garden with bored eyes leaning against the wooden windowpane. The cherry blossoms were still white. How she longed for their soft pink color...

It had been a week since she came to the headquarters. She had met most of the members of the Shinsengumi. She sighed again; life could be pretty boring when they weren't here. Shinpachi-san was on duty today, taking patrols on Kyoto; Sanosuke-san had a mission regarding about a Choshu attack; and Heisuke was no where to see. And Souji...he was out on a mission that was unknown to her.

She felt sad remembering about the young man. She missed him...a lot.

Her hair whirled slowly in front of her and she slightly held them. And she remembered something, her crown! She hid it inside her kimono when she escaped form the attack. She quickly searched for it. She approached the wooden dresser and opened the first drawer. Nothing. The second drawer...nothing. The third drawer,

"There you are!" she pulled it out and put it in her smooth hair. She noticed a small mirror lying on the same drawer and took it; her lips were thin and reddish; and her golden brown was worn down slightly shining. But what she really looked at was her crown. It reminded her of her family...of her kingdom...and of her former life...

The door suddenly opened and there stands Tetsu.

"Kumi-san! Ayumu-nee wants us to go downtown to shop for food," the boy informed rather upset a pout on his face. She quickly removed her crown and put it back on the drawer before standing up. "Ah...yes. I'll be there in a minute," the boy closed the door and she looked back inside the drawer before closing it.

"10 pieces of tomatoes...20 pieces of eggs...a bottle of olive oil..." she read aloud enough for Tetsu to hear.

"We just shopped for food last 3 days and now we are back here!" whined the little boy as he kicked a pebble in front of him. He then put his arms behind his red hair. "Shopping is boring," he added.

"Doing nothing is much boring than shopping," she commented, still looking at the list in her hands. "Besides I'm bored in my room...carrots...lettuces..." she stopped in front of a shop and picked some audible vegetables. Tetsu was mumbling things under his breath. She looked back at the list and picked the next item they needed.

"But I can't stand it when I am only standing and watching you pick some stupid vegetables," she faced him and hit him softly in his head using her hands. "Vegetables are food and that means that they are a blessing. Without these, we will die from hunger. So from now on, Tetsu-kun, do not call vegetables or any kind of food stupid," she scolded him patiently.

The boy nodded understandingly and she turned back on what she was doing.

"If you are so bored, why don't you go somewhere else where you could have fun. Just get back here as soon as you are finished...1 kilo of chicken..." the boy quickly thanked her happily and ran off mumbling he would visit some Saya or something...

'Silence at last...' it did not take her long to buy all the food Ayumi asked them to buy and paid it all at the same time. The vendor bid her with a thank you and come back again before she completely left.

Now, where is Tetsu? She started walking and tried to look for the boy. As she was walking and not looking on her way, she bumped onto someone, making her slightly surprised. She quickly apologized with a bow and stared at the person; her eyes widened.

'Souji,'

No, it's not possible. Souji was on a mission today. So...who is this person?

"Daijoubu desu ka?" he asked with a smile making her cut from her thoughts when she realized she was staring. "H-hai gomen nasai..." the guy smiled at her that sent shivers down her spine. That smile...it was scary...

"Be careful next time. Ja," he warned before walking away. She watched him leave but was called by someone, "Kumi-san!" she quickly looked at the familiar voice then back at the guy she bumped. But surprisingly, he wasn't there anymore...

"What's the matter, Kumi-san?" she shook her head and invited him to go back home already...

=+(^-^)+=

"When will they come back, Ayumu-san?" she asked sadly as she stopped cutting the carrots. "Why are you worrying so much? After all they will come back safely," answered the older lady at her question as she placed some pepper on the soup.

"But still they're taking so long," she whined again. Ayumu stirred the soup for a couple of moment before covering the pot with its cover and sat in front of her. She looked directly at Kumi's eyes. "Are you waiting for Souji?" she suddenly asked accusingly. Her face turned full red and continued cutting the carrots.

"I-I'm not waiting for him. I-I'm just worried about all of them. Don't get some silly ideas." She explained with a stutter followed by a nervous chuckle.

"Yapari (I knew it), you like him, don't you?"

"I do not!"

"Liars go to hell!"

"I am not lying!"

"You are!"

"Am not!"

"You are!"

She sighed in defeat and gave her the cut carrots. "Am not," she said firmly. Ayumu shrugged her shoulders and got the carrots and put them on the steaming pot and stirred it again with the kitchen utensil.

Kumi thought about Ayumu-nee-san said. No, she can't be. 'I can't like him,' she thought but sighed again. Maybe she does...

Hahahahahaha!!!! (-_-')

Dinner has passed by, Shinpachi-san and Sanosuke-san and their units were back at the headquarters. But Souji was not yet. She was starting to worry about him but she kept it inside. Ayumu would only tease her again.

She was sitting down near her window of her room and watched the moon shine in the night sky. A vest was worn on her shoulders to keep her warm. Souji...where was he anyway? It was already midnight and yet he hasn't come back. The cold breeze suddenly passed by but she ignored it. Sleepiness was trying to take over her but she tried herself not to. She has to stay awake...she has to wait for Souji...

She lied her head on her arms that was resting on the wooden windowpane and tried to stay awake. But she was really sleepy...her breathing became slow and her eyes closed already. "Souji..." she whispered as she remembered him.

Her bedroom door silently opened and Souji came inside. He closed the door behind him and quietly approached her sleeping body. "Souji..." she whispered again. "Okairi nasai...(Welcome home)"

He smiled and carried her body back to the mattress carefully not waking her up. He pulled the covers up and watched her sleep peacefully for a long while. He removed some strands of her hair away from her face and leaned in to kiss her on her forehead.

"Oyasuminasai, (Goodnight)" he whispered softly to her and smiled again. Kumi smiled also and held his hand lazily. "...Oyasuminasai..." she muttered while sleeping.
(Wow, talk about sleep talking ^-^)
