Chapter Twenty-Three
Title: The Big Rescue
(Thursday)
HIKARU'S POINT OF VIEW
Hikaru and Haruko already were walking around for.. A few hours. But this house was so damn big, they couldn't find anything. Everytime they had found traces of blood leading to somewhere, it ended up being nothing. Meaning, it led nowhere. The traces would stop all of the sudden.This Kaoru guy was smart.
Hikaru: Did your magical senses tell you something more?....
Haruko looked at Hikaru, having a sarcastic look on his face while he was leading them to another hall. They had passed already three of them.. THREE! Who needs THREE halls in their house?!!! They stopped in the middle of the hall, looking around at the doors around the hall. There were many.. Seven.. Or Nine.. Maybe even ten.
Hikaru: Right.. So what now?
Haruko looked at him again, sighing.
Haruko: You pick now... I really don't know anymore. And the fact that we have to be quick, doesn't make the choice easier.. So, now it's your turn.
Hikaru sighed, nodding.
Hikaru: You know?... If Tora would have ever heard someone say that, she would break that person's neck.. Especially when in this situation..
Haruko: Tora?..
Hikaru: Yes... Rini's girlfriend... I was actually sent after to find Rini, to tell him she's been murdered. It was right before I was sent to find Aki. But when I didn't find him, I heard Tora... Died....
Haruko: Really?.. The story I heard was different.. But.. I guess, I'm sorry for what happened...
Hikaru: You shouldn't have to be. The right thing to do is feel sorry for me..
Haruko: Why?
Hikaru: I know already, that when I tell Rini about what happened... He'll break me.
Haruko couldn't help but chuckle.
Haruko: Rini? Naaah, he wouldn't.. He's too nice to break anybody...
Hikaru shook his head.
Hikaru: I guess you don't know him that well then..
Haruko nodded.
Haruko: Ohh, I do!.. If he really was this way before.. Kasumi really changed him.
Hikaru: Kasumi?
Haruko nodded.
Haruko: They hung around very much... Before Kasumi-..
He stopped talking, sighing in disappointment when thinking back.
Hikaru: Did she die?..
Haruko shook his head.
Haruko: No... Just like Kaoru, she's been possessed.. No one really knows where she is now... She vanished..
Hikaru looked at Haruko for some moments, without saying anything. But after those moment, he broke silence.
Hikaru: I know.. I know you from somewhere.. I know for sure...
Haruko shook his head.
Haruko: That can't be. As far as I know, I've been living here for a loooong time.. And you're not from here, so....
Hikaru sighed, raising his shoulders a bit.
Hikaru: Maybe....
Haruko looked around again, his eyes being almost shut of the thoughtful expression on his face that he made.
Haruko: Now, help me with find Hana, 'cause I'm near hopeless right now.
Hikaru grinned a bit, nodding.
RINI'S POINT OF VIEW
He had been sitting on a bench for some hours now. The sky was a bit lighter then normal, meaning it was 'day'. What day it was? He didn't know.. He didn't care. What he just experienced was much more important...
Kasumi...
Was it real? Or was it just an illusion?... He didn't know.. All he knew on this moment, was that he wanted her back.. Too long had they been seperated.. Too long had he been thinking about how to get her back.. Too long had he been thinking about where she was, and did nothing else than that. It was enough. He couldn't take it any longer. Now, would be the perfect time for her to come back.
He stood up, walking into the schoolbuilding. The people/classmates were still there. Only they looked a bit tired now. They had been dancing and talking all night. It was almost time to go home. He looked around, seeing his friends standing where they first stood. Where he had left them. Aki, only, was still trying to get away from Sora.
Aki: RINI!!!
Aki yelled, still running. After a few moments, he did what he had been planning on doing all night... He jumped up, grabbing a cable, and swinged himself upstairs, leaving Sora looking up, losing the battle.
Rini just stood there, wondering why he didn't do that earlier.
KOHANNA'S POINT OF VIEW
Earlier, I got dragged away from Hikaru by Kaoru. He had finally took off that chain around my wrist. It was bleeding by the time we got to this chamber. It was dark, but not too dark. There were torture machine-things all over. When I threw my first glance inside this room, I got nervous. More nervous then I had been earlier. What was Kaoru planning?
Kaoru had wrapped a new cloth-piece over his nose and mouth. And even with that on, I could see by his eyes he was grinning.
Me: Why are we here?...
My voice was trembling. Kaoru just started chuckling by this. He walked up to me from his spot in the middle of the room. I was on the ground, sometimes trying to get up, but I didn't dare. Kaoru lifted me up at my arms, cupping my face.
Kaoru: You shouldn't be afraid, even though it is fun...
I looked at him, not knowing if I should be disgusted or just horrified.
Kaoru: Tell me, darling... What is my name?..
Before I wanted to say 'Kaoru', the flash of the real Kaoru came up. A screaming, crying Kaoru. My baby Kaoru.. It was weird. I always called him that to tease him when I dated him. Why was it weird? Because he doesn't really look like a baby.. Heh.
My thoughts returned to my body when Kaoru asked me again.
Kaoru: What is my name?...
I looked in his eyes, they were the normal ones. Kaoru's. But the glance he used was different. This Kaoru used the glance of a maniac. Finally, my answer came.
Me: You have no name..
Kaoru sighed in disappointment, lifting me up at my arms again, pushing me against the wall. He bashed me against it a few times, and asked again.
Kaoru: What is my name, woman?!
I shook my head, as my vision got blurry of tears, feeling tears run down over my cheeks.
Me: I can't say it.... I won't make it official.
Kaoru bashed me to the wall again, ones, then let me fall. On the ground, I felt a sticking pain on my arms. Looking at them, I saw blood running down from them. It was then I noticed Kaoru had dug in his not-so-long nails in my arms. I guess when he had me lifted up, I was too scared to notice.
Kaoru had walked away from me, and was on his old spot again, in the middle of the room.
Kaoru: Your Kaoru will be gone... Soon. Just like all your other friends.... Miyoko may have her old self back again, but I won't let her leave her prison-cell.
Me: Miyoko's.. Her old self again?
Kaoru nodded.
Me: YOU BASTARD! WHY DON'T YOU LET HER GO?!
Kaoru chuckled.
Kaoru: Your way of talking amuses me.
I felt rage build up inside me, and before I knew it, I was running to Kaoru, and raising my hand to slap him... But I didn't succeed. He had grabbed my arms again, before I could do what I wanted.
Kaoru: Listen to me, you STUPID little GIRL! Do as I say, or I will kill your left over friend like I let the guards do to the rest of your pathetic friends!
I was struggling like hell, but when I heard what he had just said... My body froze, and I felt numb.
Me: You lie....
Kaoru shook his head.
Kaoru: Haruko... Now, that was some time ago.. You know the last time you saw him?.. A few minutes later the guards had brought him here.... After a while, he got mad.... Crazy... Heh, well, I made him crazy.. If I would say there weren't any chemicals involved, I would be lying, so-..
Me: YOU LIE!
Kaoru: You want to see how he went?...
Me: How he went where?...
Kaoru: How he DIED?....
Me: NOOOO! He's not dead!!! YOU'RE LYING!!!!
Kaoru chuckled and threw me next to his feet, in the middle of the room, as he walked some meters away.
Kaoru: Watch...
He pointed behind me, and I closed my eyes. He wanted to drive me crazy.. I wouldn't let him do it.. He had to be lying.
Haruko's voice: NO! Please!!!
I heard his voice.... Haruko.... My eyes opened automaticly, watching the image that was infront of me.
Haruko was being held by his arms, his neck, his legs. There were a few men, giving him injections everywhere. Weird liquid, I didn't even want to know what it was. By his reaction, it was dangerous.
Haruko: AAAAAH!! NO!!
He started struggling, yelling, shaking... After a while, he stopped. I heard Kaoru's voice.. I didn't see him.
Kaoru: If you want Kohanna to live, you have to stop this struggling of yours... Remember? Your life for hers?
The men and Kaoru started laughing, Haruko just sat there.
Haruko: Yes....
Kaoru: Okay, one last injection, and you'll go to your cell.
Haruko nodded slowly. A man shoved his head aside roughly, moving his hair to the side as well. His beautiful black hair...
Kaoru: Okay, this will only hurt for a little while...
The man bared Haruko's neck, and pushed a long needle inside of it, pushing the liquid into him. Haruko squeezed his eyes shut, wincing, then crying.
Haruko: It... H-hurts.... It-.. Auw......
The men gave him a bit space, and I wondered why.. But then I noticed it.
After a few seconds, he threw himself backwards, bashing himself into the wall every few seconds. Screaming, crying. He threw himself to the ground, shaking, bashing himself to the ground a few times.
I saw Kaoru standing infront of the screen now, smiling.
Kaoru: Okay, bring him to his cell. Don't let him kill himself yet.
The guards lifted him up at his arms and legs. But before they could take a step, Kaoru said another thing.
Kaoru: And don't forget to put that Hikaru guy in with him.
I closed my eyes again, not wanting to look at the screen anymore. I cried.. I cried so much.
Me: Why?!.. Why did you do this?!! THIS WASN'T OUR DEAL!!
All of the sudden, I heard Hikaru's voice screaming.
Hikaru: AAAH! Haruko!! What are y-...
I opened my eyes, seeing what Haruko was doing. He was bashing Hikaru against the cell-walls. Which only existed from iron bars.
Haruko was making grunt-ish sounds, like he was angry at Hikaru. He shoved Hikaru to those iron bars a lot of times, every second almost. And Hikaru... Hikaru was chanceless. Haruko bashed him into those iron bars, slamming him across his face, kicking Hikaru in his stomech... But that wasn't enough..
What had Haruko become?... I didn't know...
Me: Haruko!! Haruko, what are you doing?!!!
Kaoru: He can't hear you.. This is only an image.. A recorded video.. This was yesterday.
I looked at Kaoru, disgusted.
Me: I don't want to watch this! Stop this!
I heard Hikaru scream again, and I forced myself to watch.
Haruko had grabbed Hikaru, and was biting in his neck. Like a vampire would do, with their long teeth. Only, Haruko didn't have those. Blood spattered all over the place, all over Haruko, all over them, even Haruko's eyes... They were spattered by the red as well, making his eyes all red. Hikaru screamed ones more, and then his limp body hung in Haruko's arms, while Haruko screamed in pleasure, looking up. He dropped Hikaru's body, looking at the camera. He looked like a maniac.... He was smiling, licking blood off his hands. He was wet from all the blood, his beautiful black hair, wet from the blood. His face all red, his clothes... He walked to the iron bars, looking through them directly into the camera. He smiled maniac-ish, licking his lips. It was like he really had fun doing this.. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I closed my eyes, not watching anymore.
Kaoru: WATCH!.. There's more...
Me: NO! I'm not going to watch anymore!
But before I knew it, Kaoru had grabbed me from behind, one arm holding me at my stomech, the other on my forehead, forcing me to watch.
What I saw, was horrible. Haruko, hanging. The rope he used, so tight around his neck.
Kaoru: This was this morning... You see that?.. He died for you... He actually DIED for you... HORRIBLE, isn't it?.. Just HORRIBLE, hahahahaha! Hikaru as well though, even though he didn't even know you that well. A strange thing.. A failed hero.. Hahahahaha!
I continued crying, seeing the image fade.
Kaoru: You want to see more?... I have more taped for you.. The next one is very short though..
Me: NO!.. NO MORE!!!
But it was too late...
I saw a body. It lay in a box. Rolled up. There were insects crawling all over the body.
I felt myself getting sick.
Kaoru: This is your friend Mitsuko. We couldn't tape how he was put in there, what he screamed, since the camera was being used for the Haruko thing.. Pitty, but I can tell you...
Me: NO!... THIS ISN'T TRUE!!
Kaoru: Yes, it is...
Me: Mitsuko... MITSUKO!!!!!!!
Kaoru: Hahahahaha! Yes! Cry!!
And as he said.. I did.. More then I ever had done. I felt Kaoru's breath every time he let out a chuckle..
Kaoru: Another one that died for you... That makes three.... He screamed alot... When the insects started eating him, that was the hardest. The hardest screams I had ever heard in my short life. Beautiful...
Me: You're SICK!
Kaoru: No.. No, I'm not... His screams WERE beautiful. I gave him the option, like I gave Hikaru and Haruko. The same option. "Your life, for hers." And they gave up their own... Dramatic love, I call it. The love for friends... How HORRIBLE.... Hahahahahaha!!!
Me: LEAVE ME ALONE! LET ME GO!.. I DON'T WANT TO SEE OR HEAR ANY MORE!!!!!
Kaoru: Pitty.. 'Cause I still have some more.... WATCH!
Another image was being showed. Kazuo... Kazuo's body floating on water. Open water. He had drowned.
Me: K-Kazuo?!.. KAZUO?! HE WAS JUST A KID!!!! A LITTLE OLDER THEN ME!! HOW COULD YOU KILL HIM?!!!
Kaoru: Ohh, but I didn't... This poor little one, drowned himself.... I told him you killed yourself.. See what you have done!.. It's ALL your fault, Hana! You KILLED him!
Me: NOO!!! I DIDN'T!!! I DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kaoru: YES YOU DID!
I saw images of Kazuo drowning infront of me everytime I closed my eyes... I was scared to shut them now... What would I see?... Haruko dying?... Hikaru dying?... Mitsuko dying?........
Kazuo dying?
I didn't dare to shut my eyes, though when I opened them, I got welcomed by more horrible images of more friends dying.. Because of me.
Kaoru: ANOTHER ONE!!!...
Kazuo's image faded, and another came up. I saw Kiyoshi. I hadn't seen him for a loooong while, so I was happy to see him before me. But less happy, when I realised these images I got showed, were images of friends getting murdered.
Me: Please, no......
I saw Kiyoshi standing on the playground where we were those days ago. He was standing at the weird climbing thing where we sat back then. It seemed he wasn't all too happy about something. Maybe he knew his death was near as well. But I wasn't sure.
This was recorded from behind.
I heard someone talking.
Voice: Hello, young man..
Kiyoshi turned around, receiving a knife in his stomech. Kiyoshi bended over, looking at his stomech with an unbelieving expression on his face.
Kiyoshi: W-why?....
Man: Your life for hers...
The man pulled the knife out, stabbing him again.. Kiyoshi moaned in pain, slacking a little sound after.. Wincing. Again, the man pulled the knife out, and this time, the man stabbed him a few times in a row. Blood ran out Kiyoshi's mouth, the man pulling the knife out.. This time backing up a bit, filming Kiyoshi.. Showing me how he died.
Man: As you can see, it took a few stabs to actually get this guy on his knees...
And he was right, Kiyoshi dropped on his knees, pressing his hand on his wounds to try to stop the bleeding a bit.. But it didn't help.
Man: He should be dead, in a few minutes..
Kiyoshi fell forwards, reaching out his hand for the camera-man.
Kiyoshi: You'll.... P-pay.....
And then he died. The man showed me a close-up of his face when his last breath had come, and I saw Kiyoshi was in so much pain, I couldn't help but think he had to die soon.
I didn't want to have him in this pain... Even though I didn't know him for such a long time, I knew him as a nice person. He didn't deserve this... None of my friends deserved this.
The image faded.
Kaoru: And now, the moment we've all been waiting for.
I was getting more and more scared.. I didn't want to see this anymore... If I would live through this, I would want to die as soon as possible. I could never get over this.
Before me I saw the image of Aki. My eyes widened.
Me: Aki?... Why?
Kaoru: He annoyed me..
Aki looked at the camera, having a sad look on his face.
Aki: I guess, the time has come.
Kaoru: Yes...
I struggled a bit, but failed to get loose.
Me: There's no way he would've let you killed him! What did you tell him?!
Kaoru: I told him.. What I told every one of them... "Your life for hers"..
I struggled again, but failed to get loose again.
Kaoru: Stop struggling and WATCH!
Me: NOO!
Kaoru: WATCH!
I saw the image of Aki still, he was sharping his knife.
Kaoru: Are you done sharpening?!
Aki nodded.
Aki: Yes... I am...
Kaoru: Then, what are you waiting for?
Aki: I-.... I just wished-..... I never told-...
Kaoru: HURRY UP!..
Aki: Okay....
A moment of silence was there, and just when I thought nothing would happen, just when I got my hopes up, it happened.
Aki held his knife against the skin of his throat, and rushed the blade against it. Cutting his throat, making the blood splatter everywhere... The camera got red from the blood shooting around. Aki's facial expression was sad... His eyes looked down. He... He looked like a fallen angel.
And after a few moments, it was over. Aki fell on his knees, and then fell backwards...
Me: NOOOO!!
Kaoru: Easy, easy.. The rest will come... Soon. Just watch..
Me: I don't want any more... I can't... I can't handle more.....
The image didn't fade, I saw Kasumi before me.. And Rini. Rini ran to Aki's body, dropping to his knees besides it. Crying out.
Rini: How?! HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!!!!!
Kasumi dropped to her knees, patting him on his shoulder. Embracing him.
Kasumi: It'll all be over soon... I promise... Remember why we're here..
Rini looked into the camera.
Rini: I just.. I can't understand why Aki didn't fight back......
Kasumi nodded.
Kasumi: He wanted to have her alive...
Rini: And I want YOU to be alive... You have to go....
Kasumi shook her head.
Kasumi: No... I'll stay with you... I'll stay with you 'till the end and longer.
Rini seemed to smile a bit. He nodded.
Rini: Okay, do it.. Let's get this over with.
Kasumi started to cry, and Rini tried to stop himself from doing that as well. But it seemed useless. The tears streamed over his cheeks. Kasumi shook her head.
Kasumi: I can't do it.. I can't... I just can't!
Rini: Please... Do it.. We'll be together soon.... Finish it quickly...
Kasumi sighed a bit, nodding, embracing him.
All of the sudden, Rini cried out, wincing afterwards. He looked at Kasumi, smiling at her.
Rini: See?.. That wasn't so hard, was it?....
Kasumi looked down at his stomech, seeing the axe she had put in him. She shook her head, crying more.
Kasumi: I can't... I can't let you go.....
Rini: We'll be together soon.... Finished it quickly and... Everything will be........ Fine...
Kasumi: But-..
Rini: I love you....
Kasumi: I... Love you too...
Rini fell down, and Kasumi pulled him up, embracing him.
Kasumi: This is all a bad dream... This can't be happening.... Please.....
Kaoru: It IS happening.. Now, it's your turn..
Kasumi nodded, laying Rini down again, gently. She pulled the axe out of Rini's stomech, gently as well. She cried.. She cried so hard.
Kasumi: I.. I can't live without him anyway... So it.. It wouldn't be so hard.....
She looked at Rini, and she stroke him over his cheek.
Kasumi: What have I done?..... What have I done?... You deserve so much better... I shouldn't have killed you.... I HATE Kohanna! I HATE HER!!
While she said this, she was cutting her legs, her arms... She started hating herself for what she had done.... She had killed the love of her life.
Kasumi: I HATE YOU ALL!!!
She sniffed, crying out. She threw the axe away, grabbing one of Rini's knives. Stabbing one in her stomech, and then stabbing the same one in her wrist. She left it there.
Kasumi: We'll be together again... Soon...
She lay herself down next to Rini, holding him.
Kasumi: If there really was a god... This wouldn't have happened... This wouldn't have... Happen..ed.....
Kaoru: SHUT UP! Let's go, let's leave them here.. I can't see this anymore!!! DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!
I struggled, getting my arm free. I reached out my hand for them..
Me: NOO! This isn't happening!!!! THIS IS A LIE!!! THIS IS ALL FAKE!! THIS IS ALL A BAD DREAM!!!!!
I felt Kaoru moving next to my ear, whispering.
Kaoru: It's not... This is all real... This is to show you I'm serious... And this is what will happen to Miyoko, if you won't listen and do as I say.
The image appeared before me.. Miyoko. She stood on a cliff, smiling at the camera. It wasn't a happy smile though, it was a sad one.
Me: Miyoko?...
But before I could say anything more, Miyoko had let herself fall from that cliff, disappearing.
Me: Miyoko WOULD NEVER DO THAT!!!!! YOU WON'T FORCE HER! YOU DID ENOUGH!!!
The image changed, and Kaoru was standing there.
Me: Kaoru.... Kaoru is.. Kaoru's still there...
But he exploded, into thousands of pieces of snow.. Or.. Dust?
Me: NO!! THIS WON'T HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kaoru: Then do as I say....
Me: OKAY! I WILL!! I can't handle this anymore.....
Kaoru let me go, and I fell on my knees, as I leaned on my hands. I cried.. I cried out.. And I already cried so much I felt like I was going to faint.
Me: It's all my fault..... They're dead because of me... I wish I never existed... I... I can't do this anymore.. I-...
But I stopped talking... I felt like I was falling... Falling into darkness.
KAORU'S POINT OF VIEW
He saw her laying on the ground, like she was in shock.. She didn't move.. ALMOST didn't breathe.. She just lay there, looking at the ceiling. He grinned. Finally, he succeeded. He could do anything he wanted with her now.
Kaoru: Let's have fun now...
He took her into his arms gently, dancing with her limp body.
Kaoru: I'll be happy now... Thank you for being there for me, darling...
He danced a few moments more, and then lay her on a table.
Kaoru: Aa, I cannot wait....
He stroke her arms, her wet cheeks, her lips. Soft lips, pink, but red.
Kaoru: I'll keep this body, and show Kaoru what I can do to you.. What I WILL do to you... Kaoru is crying.... His cries feel so warm to me.... So warm.. So warm you are...
He moved his face closer to hers, but just before his lips could touch hers, the door slammed open.
It were those damn friends of hers.. Haruko and Hikaru.. Those damn brats always ruin everything..
Kaoru: You will leave IMMEDIATELY!
Haruko looked at the table where Kaoru was standing above. He saw Hana was on there.
Haruko: GIVE HER BACK!
Kaoru: NO! SHE'S MINE!!!
Hikaru looked at Haruko, nodding at him. It seemed Haruko knew what he meant, since he started running to the table, smacking Kaoru in his face.
Kaoru: HOW DARE YOU?!!! THIS BODY IS YOUR FRIEND'S!!!
Haruko: Kaoru would've wanted me to do that..
Haruko wanted to pick Hana up, but got smacked by Kaoru. Hikaru kicked Kaoru away, fighting him. Kicking, punching Kaoru. While he got the same back.
Hikaru: HARUKO, NOW!
Haruko nodded, watching Hana. She looked dead, but he knew she wasn't. She was breathing. She had to wake up. He stroke her cheek, trying to wake her up, but she didn't. And HELL NO was he going to slap her to wake her... He wasn't that kind of person. He picked her up, running out of the door.
Haruko: I'LL WAIT FOR YOU AT THE HOUSE, HIKARU!!
Hikaru nodded, fighting Kaoru still.
Kaoru: NO! DON'T TAKE HER AWAY FROM ME!
Haruko ignored him, running further.
RINI'S POINT OF VIEW
He and the rest had walked home, all to Hana's house. Rini couldn't help but think about Kasumi the whole time. What if she would just come out of her room? And say those weird things like; "Let's all go kill Bert!" or "Hmm, Rini.. Make something for me, I'm going to shower...". He smiled at this thought. But he knew it wouldn't be like that. His smile disappeard.
Kazuo: Hmm, weird... Haruko isn't here?
He walked through the house, but he couldn't find him.
Rini: I'm going to look outside.....
Kazuo looked at him, knowing he wouldn't look for Haruko.. But that he just needed fresh air.. He knew Rini would probably be sad about something.
He saw Rini walk outside, while he and the others continued to look inside of the house.
Rini walked to the bench outside, infront of the house. He sat down, looking at his hands. It was raining.
Rini: Kasumi.... Why don't you just come home?... You know the way right?... You can do it...
A moment of silence came by.
Rini: I'll be waiting for you.. I-...
He sighed. It was really dark outside now, pitchblack. Which meant it was 'night' now. But for some kind of reason, there was light infront of Rini. Rini looked up, seeing Kasumi.
Rini: Kasumi?
He smiled, standing up immediately.
Rini: Y-you came back!
But when he looked clearly, he saw she was crying.
Rini: Kasumi?... Kasumi, what's wrong?
She didn't answer.
Rini: Tell me? Please? I can help...
Kasumi finally looked at him, her teary eyes, full of sorrow.
Kasumi: Rini... Rini, please.... Help me......
Rini: Where are you?... I'll come and help!
He reached out his hand for her, but she disappeard before he could touch her... Again.
All of the sudden. he heard a voice.
Voice: HELP ME!!
