Rainbow Tears (a Neji story) pt.10

At first I was shocked but then I smiled at him and nodded. Then, wanting to thank him for the advice, I hugged him. He tensed up a little then slowly returned the hug, my head on his shoulder.
Me: "thank you Neji. That means a lot to me."
He then hugged me tighter and closer to his bare chest.
Neji: "anytime, Aurora. Anytime...You know, you look very nice without all that makeup on."
Me: "thanks*yawns*Neji."
A few minutes later, we fell asleep, his arms around my waist and me against his chest on the bed.

>>Story begins< <
I woke up at my usual time and saw that I was still in Neji's arms. I blushed a little but smiled non-the less. He had told me something no one had ever said before. Even though I could think of my parents I had to stop dwelling in the past and move on, even if it was a hard thing to do. Instead of getting up, I got pulled closer to the sleeping Neji and looked at his peaceful face. The butterfly feeling came back and a blush appeared since I was just centimeters from his face. Thinking quickly, I slipped out from in his arms and replaced it with a pillow and went to get ready for this day. The day I was born.
After I had done my morning routine, I went over to the windowsill and looked at the sky to see Yuki flying in circles. I opened the window and whistled him to come in the room. He flew in and landed on my shoulder while I closed the window and looked over to see Neji still asleep. I then turned my attention to the window and looked out at the unusual sky.
Me: *whispers* "well Yuki. Today's the day of my birth. Knowing this place, everyone is going to hate me even more since they think that I was the worst thing to happen on this day 15 years ago. *Sighs* I wonder what Seishinkage wanted to give me today?"
He just gave me a soft 'who' and looked out the window like I did. Unbeknownst to us, we were overheard.
>>Neji's POV< <
I was awoken by a soft whistle and saw that Aurora wasn't in bed. I quietly looked over to the window and saw her right when Yuki landed on her shoulder. Quickly I got back to the way I was laying down to make her think I was still asleep. I then heard her whispering to Yuki.
Aurora: *whispering* "well Yuki. Today's the day of my birth. Knowing this place, everyone is going to hate me even more since they think that I was the worst thing to happen on this day 15 years ago. *Sighs* I wonder what Seishinkage wanted to give me today?"
You: *thinking* "so her birthday is today. The only people to be nice to her on this day must have been her parents. I'll change that."
After thinking that, I went back to sleep.
>>Aurora's POV< <
A few hours later Neji woke up and got dressed, and then we went first to get Gai-sensei, but found he was already gone. So we went to get Tenten and Lee. When we arrived at their room we knocked and the door opened to see an already dressed Tenten and Lee.
Me: "let's all go get something to eat. It'll just be the four of us, though. Gai-sensei left."
We all agreed and left for a restaurant. Tenten and I quietly started to talk about what happened last night.
Tenten: "so spill, what happened?"
Me: "let me see. We both got dressed. Then we started to argue over who gets the bed. He kept on telling me to take it while I told him to take it. Finally, since I wouldn't move, he picked me up and dropped me on it. Playing around, I pretended to be angry and to ignore him when he said for me to smile. He then sat down and started to tickle me and he...made me laugh. He then said my laugh was nice and we fell asleep. I was...in his arms when I woke up."
She squealed at this causing the guys to look back at us weirdly. I looked down and blushed.
Lee: "what was that all about?"
Tenten: *nervously* "nothing Lee. Sorry about that. We were just talking about something."
They turned back around and we started talking again.
Tenten: "did you tell him how you felt about him?"
I shook my head 'no.' she sighed then said.
Tenten: "neither did I. I was too nervous. All we did was get ready for bed. He slept on the windowsill and I in the bed, even though I told him he should take it. He just said 'you were the one who was injured, not me. You need it more than I do,' and that was the end of it."
Me: "that's sweet of him."
Tenten: "yeah."
>>After breakfast< <
Me: "I'll see you guys later, alright? The Seishinkage said he needed to see me about something."
Tenten: "alright. Oh, are we all going to be going to the festival today?"
Lee raised his hand and turned to Tenten with his signature smile.
Lee: "I will, if you'd like to go with me, Tenten."
Tenten started to blush millions of shades of red and turned to me, who mouthed 'say yes' to her. She nodded, gulped, and agreed. Lee jumped into the air and did a 'whoo hoo!' I giggled at this. When she calmed down she looked at Neji and me with a smirk.
Tenten: " and what about you two?"
Neji shrugged.
Lee: "what about you, Aurora?"
Me: "I don't really go to the festival. The young priests and priestesses can be a bit...rude to us ninja."
Tenten: "like how?"
Me: "whatever they can think of. There are a variety of things they'll do to those ninja born here. I think I'll just...sit it out, if that's alright with you guys."
Tenten: "if you won't go, then I won't either."
Lee: "nor will I."
I shook my head no and smiled at them.
Me: "no it's alright, you all can go if you want to. You all deserve to have some fun. I don't know how long the Seishinkage will want me anyways. Go ahead."

Tenten: "are you sure?"
Me: "positive. The stores where you get the clothes for the festival are near the fountain we were at last night. They are the most beautiful and the least expensive. The thing is people here only pay for brand names so not a lot of people know about it."
All this time Neji was just staring into space, like he was thinking of something. He hadn't spoken for the whole day. I looked up at the sky and saw the sun was right above us, signaling noon.
Me: "I got to go now. See you all later."
Tenten: "see you later."
Lee: "bye. And thanks for the advise on where to get our festival clothes."
Me: "no problem."
Neji just walked off into the town, not going in the direction of the store I had mention, nor saying 'bye.'
Me: *thinking* "he either must not be going to the festival or he's still thinking about going or not."
I walked off towards the Seishinkage's office, now wondering what exactly he wanted to give me.
>>Seishinkage's office< <
When I got to his office, I knocked and entered when I heard a faint but kind 'come in.' I opened the door and stuck only my head into the building.
Me: "um, you wanted to see me?"
He looked up from his large amount of paperwork and smiled when he saw me.
Seishinkage: "yes I did. Please come in and sit down. You see it's about your 15th birthday today."
I walked in and took a seat in the chair he pointed out to me.
Seishinkage: "your parents had given me a couple of things that they wanted to pass on to you. Somehow they knew they wouldn't survive their mission."
He motioned to one of the Chunin in the room to fetch something and, in a flash, the guy vanished in search for the items.
Seishinkage: "before they left, they told me to give it to you on this day, your 15th birthday. You were to inherit them. The only thing they said to me though was that it was to help you out when you used your kekkei genkai, the Auroragan."
Right then the Chunin got back and handed the Seishinkage a scroll and a package. He turned back to me and handed them over.
Seishinkage: "so now I place them both in your hands. May they help you achieve your goal in life."
I nodded and took them both gingerly in my hands. I began to open the package when he placed one of his hands on mine.
Seishinkage: "I think you'd better open that somewhere else. You never know who might be wanting to see the secrets of them both."
I nodded again and stood.
Me: "thank you, Seishinkage. This means a lot to me."
I bowed to him. He just chuckled.
Seishinkage: "think nothing of it. Oh, and before you open the package, read the scroll alright?"
I nodded and he said I could go. When I was outside once more I decided the best place to open the package was in the hotel room I was staying in. Quickly I got there and entered the room and sat down on the bed.
Me: *thinking* "ok first the scroll."
I opened the scroll and read it to myself. It said:
'Dear Aurora,
If you are reading this then it's your 15th birthday. Your mother and I are both very proud of you for making it this far in life. First, though, before we talk about the package, your mother and I need to tell you about why the Ayano clan is hated by so many in this village. Years ago, this village did accept us because we could use our powers to protect and defend this village we all call home. Back then there was, not one, but two parts to the Ayano clan; the main branch and the secondary branch, where you are placed. We were separated in that way because the people in the main branch weren't afraid to injure and/or kill their opponents while we in the secondary branch did. The main branch members were the most ruthless fighters in the village and were feared by all.
Their ruthlessness later became their downfall when they attacked and killed countless villagers for no reason. They were all killed, but the secondary branch lived on. The villager, in their minds, thought it wasnt a good idea to allow any member of the Ayano clan to live, but because our branch of the family did nothing to the village people, we were spared. The villager, though, never gave us a chance to show that we were different from the others in the main branch and stayed away, fearing we might kill them as well. Since then we were never accepted unless had either became priests or priestesses, or we had moved to another village, but this village is our home. We all needed to protect it even if it cost us our lives. That is why your mother and I chose to come back here to live. The choice for you, though, is still yours and yours alone. Never let anyone decide that for you.
Since you should know the theory on how our clan got the Auroragan, i won't explain it to you(if you want to know message me and i'll place it up).The Ayano clan has one thing that is passed down through the clan to the first one born with the Auroragan. It is our secret weapon and can only be used by you, our first-born. Open the package and see what it is and what's inside.'
I stopped for a moment. This was my family's history. This was why I was treated like dirt, all because of something that happened in the past.
Me: *thinking* "they should follow the same advise Neji gave me, 'it may be hard but you need to try and move on. If you keep dwelling on bad things that had happened, then you'll never feel better. It's better if you remember the good things in life than the bad anyways. It's good to laugh every now and then.'"
Taking a deep breath, I took the package in both hands and slowly opened it. When I did, I saw the most unique pouch I have ever seen. (There's no brown leather in the village at all)

I stared at it a while then opened it to find...nothing. It was empty.
Me: "what the-"
I went back to the scroll and started to read again.
'As you can tell the pouch is empty. The way you use it is you call on an element and another scroll will appear. Try it out, then read the rest of the scroll.'
Doing what it said, I said the word 'water' and magically a scroll with the kanji 'water' on it. Shocked I looked back and read the rest of the scroll.
'This scroll is one of dozens of summoning scrolls. They will help you to summon special objects to use with your chosen elements that you use with your Auroragan. To get the objects, though, you need to know how to use a summoning scroll. It's best if you go to the training ground to do so. To get rid of the scroll, just place it back into the pouch and close it.'
I did and, sure enough, the scroll disappeared. Thinking it would be a good idea to learn this stuff on the training grounds, I left the room and a note to Neji telling him where I would be just in case.
>>Nightfall< <
I was exhausted. For 6 hours straight I've been training with these new summoning scrolls of mine and found all sorts of things like a pouch full of water, two small fans, and, to my shock, a guitar for when I control sound (yes that's a kind of element, at least in this story it is). And that's just to name a few. It was about time for the Aurora Borealis to appear in the sky, so I set off to my favorite spot in town. It's a place where you can go and see everything that is happening and nobody knows you're there. I stood there and watched everyone having fun and felt tears welling up in my eyes. This time it took everything I had to hold them back and your body shook. This always reminded me of the birthday parties I had when I was younger. Everyone we knew was there.
I was so caught up in my memories that I didn't sense the person behind me until I felt a wire-like object around my neck.
REST IN RESULTS

But as suddenly as it appeared, it loosened and I looked down to see the most beautiful necklace I have ever seen. It was this pendent:

on a gold chain. I then felt two strong arms wrap around my waist and pull me closely to someone. They then softly whispered...
Voiced: *whispers* "happy birthday, Aurora."
The voice was familiar. I turned my head and saw the one and only Neji Hyuuga.
Me: "Neji? What are you doing here? I thought you would be at the festival with the others. And...how'd you know it was my birthday?"
Neji: "why should I be there if the one person who matters isn't? Plus this is more important than anything else. I hope you don't mind but I overheard you tell that bird of yours that it was your birthday."
I again started to shake, not in sadness, but in joy. I quickly turned around in his arms and hugged him tightly, my arms around his neck. He held me just as tightly to him.
Me: "thank you Neji. This is the best gift...actually the only true gift I ever got from someone who cares in a long time."
Neji: "actually, this is only part of it."
I pulled back a little so my hands were now on his chest. I looked into his beautiful eyes questioningly.
Me: "not to sound greedy or anything, but what's the second part?"
He just looked back into my eyes with his own, a small smile on his lips. It looked like he was looking into my soul.
Neji: "this."
And with that he quickly leaned down the couple of inches that separated us and placed his lips to mine. At first I was shocked. Neji Hyuuga was kissing me! The guy I liked! Slowly I kissed him back, again wrapping my arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. He held me even tighter to him, seemingly not wanting it to end. Nor did I, for that matter, want it to end. I felt like everything had disappeared; all my sadness, all my worries, everything. Unfortunately, we had to break for air. We looked at each other; him smiling and me looking confused as ever.
Me: "you...you like me?"
Neji: "no. i love you. More than what words could describe."
Me: "but...why?"
Neji: "you're not like other girls. You actually helped me with my problems instead of making them worse. Heh, you also didn't gawk over me like other girls. To put it simple, you're everything I love and more. That's why I love you."
I smiled and hugged him again and whispered into his ear...
Me: *whispers* "I love you too."
Right then the Aurora Borealis appeared in the sky. It was a beautiful sight. Neji and I turned to watch the colors dance in the sky, all the while holding on tight to the one we loved.

YAY! finally after ten chapters, they kissed! took them long enough. now to the big question in the memo. if you didn't read the memo GO BACK AND READ THE MEMO! IT'S IMPORTANT AND I'M NOT GOING TO REPEAT MYSELF BECAUSE I'M LAZY LIKE THAT! anyways, for those of you who already did, send me your answers and i'll figure something out. oh and no it's not the end of the story, it's only the beginning. this is a picture of Aurora and her mom at her age.
