Chapter 11: Gekido Activated!
So here I was, all better, sitting by a tree and taking a rest with Kisame and Itachi. I was getting bored so I stood up and stretched. I then said, "I'm going for a stroll" and walked off. I had slowly gotten used to getting up early, walking a good part of the day, and training with Itachi.
Sadly, all the training seems fruitless because I have yet to activate the Gekido. I inhale deeply and sigh. Sometimes life sucks.
I continued walking a bit further, when I heard some leaves crunch. I turned around to face the spot where the sound came from. All of a sudden, a kunai was coming straight at me, but I easily dodged it. While I was dodging the kunai, the attacker ran out of hiding to attack me.
By his movements I could tell he was of a Jounin level. I didn't pay close attention to his looks, since I'm obviously too busy defending myself against his punches.
I continue being on the defensive side, when I throw a kick at him, but miss. The man continues his onslaught, with no sight of him stopping.
"Listen, why are you attacking me?" I asked. It was kinda odd just attacking me out of the blue.
"I can use you as a hostage against those bastards," he says. I guessed he was referring to Itachi and Kisame.
"That's not very nice," I comment as I duck out of the way of a punch. He then takes out another kunai and tries striking me with it. I of course, dodge it. But I didn't notice his other fist that ended up punching me in the gut. I winced, but didn't fall down. If I fell, the battle would be over.
The ninja then did a few hand seals, but didn't say the jutsu name.
All of a sudden, a landslide of mud starts coming at me, and pushes me further through the forest.
"Shit," I swear under my breath since I was unable to get my footing against the river of earth. Miraculously, I managed the hold on to a tree long enough for the jutsu to stop. As soon as I was able to stand up, the man did more hand seals and punched his hand to the ground. Earth flew up, and started to pound me. I managed to put my hands in front of my face so I wouldn't be knocked unconscious or anything drastic like that.
But the jutsus didn't stop there. As soon as that one stopped, he created a new one. Basically, a buttload of water appeared from nowhere and started drowning and thrashing me all around.
My back finally hit a tree, and the water level dropped. My body felt numb and heavy. I was badly wounded and tired out from the powerful attacks. I sucked it up, though, and stood up. The man grinned at my weakened state. Great, a sadist.
I inhaled deeply, and took out my umbrella. In return to my action, the man unsheathed his sword.
We stood at least ten feet away from each other; waiting for a movement. I took this opportunity to look into his eyes. He gazed right back at mine.
His eyes were cold and determined. I wondered what emotions my eyes held.
I gripped the handle of the parasol tighter and bought it up in front of me and started spinning it. Eventually, I was able to form a wind current. I then released poisonous needles form the umbrella.
The ninja bought his sword up so that the tip was at eye level. As the needles got close, he slashed them all down. He then ran toward me, despite the wind, and poked a hole through my parasol with his katana. He suddenly pushed the katana forward even more to the point I was about to get killed.
I closed my eyes and opened them again. The scene went in slow motion. The sword was coming at me, and I looked down at it. I then looked up at his eyes, which held confidence and egotism.
I was pretty sure at that moment that my eyes were filled with fear and remorse. But why was I giving in so easily? All of a sudden I felt some new kind of power.
The man stopped the sword a few inches from my heart and his mouth hung open. His eyes rolled back in his head, and he fell down. After that, a puddle of blood formed around him. His head seemed to flatten out and he made the most inhuman sounds as he died.
Finally, his body ceased to twitch, and he stopped emitting sounds. I stared; wide-eyed. I was still holding my parasol, but quickly dropped it and started running for the clearing I was settled in minutes earlier.
I finally got there, and tripped over a tree stump, falling flat on my face. I quickly sat up though, and scrambled away from the dense trees.
When I got to the center of the tiny clearing, I took deep breaths and looked at Itachi. His eyebrow was raised to my frightened face and torn, bloody clothes.
"What happened to you?" Kisame asked curiously.
"S-some attacked," I stuttered. "A-and I beat them! But like it was..weird."
"How was it weird?" Itachi asks.
"Well, you see, he was about to beat me, but he suddenly fell back and started bleeding a lot and crud." Wow, that must've sounded really descriptive. But Itachi stood up and looked toward me. Kisame stood up, following the trend.
"Where's the corpse?" he asked, wanting me to lead him. I nodded, understanding, and started walking. When we reached the battleground I was, once again, faced with the bloody mess.
"Man, what the heck did you do to him?" Kisame questioned and kicked the body to the side so he could get a better look at the face. Itachi was silent, but soon turned to look at me.
"Yes?" I asked timidly since it didn't seem like he'd start talking anytime soon.
"You must've activated the Gekido," he simply stated.
"Eh?" I tilted my head to the side. I thought about it for a second, and it made sense. I was put into a life and death situation, so of course by natural instinct my body would try to survive by fighting back.
"Activate it," Itachi demanded.
"Well," I started, "..How?"
"Concentrate," he flatly stated. I rolled my eyes, and started concentrating. I stood there for a few seconds, staring at the ground while Kisame and Itachi watched me. I started counting the seconds in my mind..
1 rhinoceros. 2 rhinoceros. 3 rhinoceros. 4 rhinoceros. 5 rhinoceros.
"OKAY, I can't do it again," I said, quickly running out of patience. In a blur of motion, Itachi was behind me, kunai to my throat.
"Then I'm going to kill you." In that moment, my mind panicked, and in pure instinct I felt the Gekido activate. I whipped around, but Itachi dodged my gaze. "There, it's activated."
I pouted. "Meanie. Didn't have to scare the crap outta me..So, what does the Gekido look like?"
"Your right pupil is yellow with an orange swirl," Kisame replied.
"Oh cool-WAIT. Isn't it suppose to activate in both eyes?!" I exclaimed, getting worried about this little glitch. I got no response, so I threw my hands up in the air and deactivated the Gekido. I then stomped over to our original clearing and sat by a tree. Itachi and Kisame soon followed.
"I need new clothes," I randomly said, looking down at the now bloody rags I wore.
"Why can't you use the spares you packed?" Kisame grunted, obviously not liking the idea of shopping with me.
"Because I said so," I answered. "And I earned it!" I then stuck my tongue out.
"I guess we could," Itachi agreed.
Kisame and I stared in amazement-did Itachi just actually agree to something nicely? How odd.
We walked into a busy town, looking for a clothing shop I liked. Whenever we passed by a shop and I didn't go in, Kisame would bother me to hurry up, but for some reason Itachi kept glaring at his protests.
I finally waked into a store, and started looking around. I picked out a kind of tight, white T-shirt with red polka dots. I then chose out some pinstripe pants that I could roll up, a white hoodie, and black boots that looked fairly comfortable. Who said a kunoichi couldn't be fashionable, hm?
"You can choose some more," Itachi said, startling me since he was RIGHT behind my back.
"We agreed on one new outfit," I added and moved away from Itachi for some breathing room. He was seriously invading my personal space.
"No, you can buy another." I shrugged and went searching for more clothes. I picked out a few more tops, shorts, and some new sandals and sneakers. I then walked into the fitting room, and found a vacant stall. Itachi was right behind me as I walked into the stall.
"Um..you can wait outside," I commented, feeling uncomfortable from the sudden attention. I closed the door to the stall and locked it.
I tried on all the clothes, which fit me successfully, and put on the first pair of clothes I picked out, Itachi paid after much disagreement from me and went on our way once again.
"Are you hungry?" Itachi asked. Kisame raised an eyebrow toward Itachi's sudden generosity.
"..No, not really," I replied, raising an eyebrow and eying him suspiciously.
"Well are you in the mood for anything?" He looked towards me, wanting a response.
"I guess ramen.." Itachi nodded, and took a sharp turn toward a random restaurant. We entered and took a seat at the nearest table.
The waitress came over. "May I take your orders?" Kisame was about to order first, but Itachi glared and looked to me.
"W-well," I stuttered sicne I wasn't really ready to order, "Pork ramen and some tea. Any kind is fine" The waitress nodded.
"I'll have some tea," Kisame ordered.
"Tea," Itachi simply stated. The waitress then left the table. It was silent from then. I looked at the table out of boredom. Oh, how interesting the table was. Luckily a few minutes later the waitress came back with our orders and saved me from staring a hole through the table.
"Thank you!" I exclaimed and basically inhaled the ramen and tea. I guess I really was hungry. I looked toward Kisame and Itachi, who were calmly and slowly drinking their tea. It was weird to see two S-ranked criminal, drinking tea so peacefully.
"Sooo, Itachi," I started and he glanced to me, "Can I go..walk around town?" I crossed my fingers under the table and hoped he would say yes, since he seemed to be on a generosity streak.
Itachi set down his tea and replied with a "Yes." I smiled, and ran out of the restaurant toward a cute little shop with stuffed animals. I may be thirteen, but I have the heart and immaturity of a five-year-old; at least that's what Sasuke said once.
"Oi, Itachi, why are you being so nice to the brat?" Kisame asked and drank some more of his tea.
Itachi turned his gaze toward his partner and set his teacup down. "When will a donkey go over a river easier: When you give it treats, or when you force it?"
