Ari’s POV A few weeks later…

Christmas was quiet. I spent it with Kelly and her family. The guys came over for New Years. The doorbell rang. I answered the door for Kelly and Joe. They were carrying boxes. Kelly was moving in with me. I let them in and they put the boxes on the floor. Fang came running to Joe. He picked him up. “Hi,” Kelly said.

“Hey.”

“Pete’s not going to be happy about this,” Joe said, petting Fang.

“What? Why not?” I asked, confused.

“Well, what if you three are on the couch together? I mean, won’t Kelly get in the way of-”

“Joe!” I interrupted, glaring at him. He smirked at me. “I can’t believe you just said that.”

“What?” asked Kelly, curiously.

“Tell you later,” he said, putting Fang back on the floor.

“Hey, Joe, how many do you catch a month?” I asked.

“Huh?”

“Isn’t it hard to catch a vamp-”

“Maybe I won’t tell you then,” he said to Kelly. She looked confused. I grinned. “Let’s get the rest of the stuff out of the car,” he said. We followed him out the door.

“Hey, Joe, why is there a bat on the car?” I asked him, jokingly.

“I don’t know. It is Pete’s car,” he said, smiling at me.

“What are you guys talking about?” asked Kelly, still confused.

“Nothing,” Joe and I said at the same time.

“Okay,” she said, giving us weird looks. We brought the rest of the boxes inside.

“All set?” asked Joe.

“Yeah,” I answered. He kissed Kelly.

“See you,” Joe said. “Pete had to meet someone today. He said he’d call you,” Joe said, hugging me. I nodded.

“Bye.” He left.

“Now what?” asked Kelly, flopping down on the couch.

Pat’s  POV

I kicked a box over. I was never patient with fixing things, but I always ended up doing it. “That won’t help anything,” said Pete from the doorway.

“What’s up?” I asked him. “Did you meet the guy?” I turned to face him.

“I went. The asshole didn’t show up.” He had his arms crossed. “I’m going to track him down.”

“Does Ari know you’re doing this?”

“No.” I gave him a look. “I’ll tell her if I find anything, alright?”

“Why are you doing this?”

“I want to make sure she’s not being attacked because of m- uh, us.” He finished quickly.

His cell phone rang. He answered it. “I was there, where were you?” He rolled his eyes. “Right,” he said sarcastically. “Friday night. Got it.” He hung up.

Ari’s POV

“Where are you going?” Kelly asked me from the couch.

“Pete’s taking me somewhere,” I answered, sitting next to her.

“Ohh…”

“To meet someone for…work.”

“Like for the band?”

“Uhh…yeah, sure,” I lied. I heard the door opening. “That’s him. See you later.” I got up.

“Have fun,” she said, turning on the t.v. I went to the door as Pete walked in. He gave me a quick kiss.

“Let’s go,” he said grabbing my hand and pulling me out the door. We got in the car.

“Where are we going?”

“Meet some guy. At a club. Vampire stuff.” I nodded.
