~Sai(From Naruto)~ [[ Sketches ]] ~ One-shot ~

For people who donno, 'Sai' is Sauske's replacement.

Kooritara Nanime, just another student of the way of the shinobi. Same team as Uzumaki Naruto, the so called 'Troublemaker', or as everone lables him.
Your too layed down and calm to notice the stuff that happens around you, most of the time anyways.
Sasuke, a former teamate left to Orochimaru a few years ago, and Naruto left with Jiraya soon after.
Sakura was busy with her medical training to be around, and you were constantly on missions, being an ANBU leader and all. Yea, so you started out as a genin the same time everyone else did, but in the past years, your ranks grew dramticaly.
"Oi, Did you hear? Uzumaki Naruto is back!!" A person whispered.
"Uzukamai Naruto?" the villager responded, "you mean Kyuubi(nine tails)?"
"Yea!" the man chuckled, "Thats him alright! But you know, he did save the village countless times, so we should give him some slack"
You smiled to yourself, but just continued your drawing of a tree in a clearing, with a kunai at the base.
You didnt actually care much that Naruto was back, you knew he wasnt going to die so you didnt bother to go meet up with him. Aparently, the momment he came back, he was off on a mission with Kakashi-sensei and Sakura, they invited you since 'the more the merryer' but you declined. Too many missions already, and saving Gaara from Akatsuki was no exception.
Your former team arrived back in konoha a few days after, un-harmed, Although kakshi was hospilitized for an over-use of chakra.
"Naanniimme-chan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" A familiar voice rang.
"Hm?" you looked up from your unfisinished picture, "Nice to see you again Naruto-kun, Sakura-san" you greeted.
"oi, Sakura-chan told me your an ANBU leader!" Naruto exclaimed in disblelief, that is until he noticed your outfit.
The normal clothing of an ANBU member of course, the long slick kanata hoisted on your back, and an anime mask was dangling off your belt.
you smiled sweetly.
"I havnt seen you in a while Nanime!" Sakura pointed out, "Your always on missions i never see you around!"
"Things do get a little out of hand" You confesed while closing up your notebook of sketches and laying down on the soft grass.
"Its been so long since we all had sat down to talk like this, huh?" Sakura noted.
"One thing missing...Sasuke-san" Naruto said softly.
"Forget about him, its not like he was really our friend" You commented.
"What?!" he shot.
"Uchiha Sasuke...if he really was our friend, would he have left?" you asked.
"I...no...but he's our teamate!" Sakura rebounded, trying to convince you.
"I guess, but hes not our teamate anymore"
Naruto bit his lip in defeat, "well Nanime-chan, can you help me find the old gang? I wanna meet Shikamaru, chouji, and Ino again" Naruto asked.
"I rather no-"
"Thanks!" he pulled your by the arm, "Jaa-ne Sakura-chan!!"
You smiled to yourself.
"Oi, do you know where Shikamaru is Nanime-chan?" Naruto inquired, looking to his right, then left, scanning through the village.
"Not really, i havnt seen him for the past years actually" you explained.
"past years?! Dont you even wanna see you old friends?!" he exclaimed.
Your sighed saddly, "Gomen Naruto-kun, demo(sorry naruto, but) i had alot of missions"
he sighed in defeat, "Alright, its okay, oi! There he is!" he rushed over to the chunin exams building where Shikamaru supposingly had to short the pappers.
"Eh? Nanime-san, its been some time huh?" shikamaru greeted.
"Yea"
chouji entered into the scene, and Naruto said somthing about him being fat,and he went to punch him.
Luckily, you were able to push him and Shikamaru out of the way, but when you did, you found out Chouji was actually aiming for a 'Tiger' that leaped off a nearby building.
Shikamaru destroyed it with some ease, and naruto went to attack the guy that caused it.
The boy was sitting on a rooftop, a scroll and paintbrush in hand.
'H-he....' you studyed his apearence. No doubt about it, he looked alot like him.
When you were younger, you had a close friend, the only one that would stick up for you. Since your parents died trying to save you, insted of finishing the mission, the villagers shunned you. That boy...his name: Narotoro Kosuke. he had dark navy blue hair, almost black, and a lighter shade of eyes. He had the same bangs as the boy who was holding the scroll up above on the roof.
You winced, clutching you head with your free hand, you didnt want to remeber that that boy ever again! he broke your heart after all...seeing as though he died, leaving you alone.
"Your quite weak, so what do you have inbetween your legs?" the boy taunted Naruto.
"WHHATT!!" he exclaimed, getting a little to furious.
You kneed onto the floor, holding your head with both your hands.
"Nanime-san, you okay?" Shikamaru's worried voice asked.
You growled and jumped onto the roof, pushing Naruto off.
"Whats this? A girl?" The boy asked, "And not only that, and ANBU, what do i owe the honer-"
"Shut the hell up!" you snapped, making Shikamaru, chouji and naruto gasp. they never saw you tense up like that.
"Who are you!" You spat, holding him up by the collor.
his face resembled Kosuke so much...not only that, but his voice aswell. His rudeness also.
You see, Kosuke was a lot of a back talker, and always making unfriendly comments about eveyrone he meets. You hated him at first, but for an odd reason he became your best friend. He wasnt always kind to you, but he warmed up afterwards.
"Sai. but you dont need to get forceful" He said without a care in the world.
you took a step back, finally releasing him from your grip.
"Well i gotta go" he waved and left with a cloud of smoke, "we'll meet again naruto-kun"
"Nanime-chan!! What happened?!!" Naruto jumped back onto the roof
"...Sai." you repeated his name so you wouldnt forget it
"So THATS his name!" he pounded a fist into his other palm, "Ill kill him for saying cr@p about me!!"
"He looks like Kosuke-kun.." you said outloud.
"Nani? 'Kosuke-kun'? ohhh that boy you liked when you were younger?" Naruto asked, he squited his eyes, "Well i guess he does look a little like him...and he acts like him too!" he retored.
You smiled, "Yea."
"But next time i see that jerk, hes dead i tell ya- DEAD!"
Sai defenatly had a striking resemblence to Kosuke. The hair, the eyes, the talent of drawing, the voice, attitude, strength, and that fake smile.
Of course, Kosuke was older than you by 2 years or so, but he died protecting you. your last words to him...was an insult. you called him an idiot, he gave a chuckle then stoped breathing. Never got the chance to tell him about how you felt.
Next Day

"Okay because of the absence[sp?] of Hatake kakashi, and Uchiha Sasuke, i found 3 replacements" Tsunade informed.
a man around Kakashi's age walked out of the door, a fellow ANBU member for sure, since you seen him around.
He gave you a small smile.
"And Sai." she ended, as the boy from yesterday walked out.
You blushed for a quick momment, before thrusting your head in the other direction.
Naruto looked at you weirdly, while Sakura gave a small giggle.
"Alright you 3 get acquianted[sp?] im going to hav to speak with Yamato[sp?], your new team leader" she shooed you away.
OutSide

"Sorry for attacking you naruto-kun, i just wanted to know how much effort id have to put in to work with you, Nut-less wonder" Sai insulted.
Sakura giggled.
"I liked you type Sakura-san, bitchy and butt-ugly" he continued.
That earned him a slap from Sakura.
he turned to you, you expected a bad comment also but insted..
"You know, close up your kinda cute" he said bluntly, making you blush.
'Did...he...cute?!'
Just like with Kosuke..you thought.
FlashBack

"I cant believe your parents cared about you so much that they abandoned the mission!!" the kids scolded.
"Shut up! Its not my fault! My parents were heros! They care more about other people then themselves!" You retored standing up for yourself.
"Ha! is that why they never finish a mission properly? Cuz they look out for their teamates!" A boy laughed.
"Be queit! Their real heroes!"
"Yea right!" Another pushed you onto the mud, it was raining after all.
"Oiiii!!! Not nice to do that, is it??" A voice corrected.
You looked over your shoulder, 'Kosuke..?!' You hated that kid! He was like the punk of the school, always making stupid and mean comments about everyone....so why was he here?
"Kosuke-sama??!" The kids bowed. Aparently Kosuke was a child protegy and the elders respected him, even though the kids didnt. but the other students probably learned to bow to him because of their parents.
He nodded in aproval, "Yea...i like the sound of that! Man no offense, but ganging up on a helpless girl, guys? I mean come on! Thats not being a man- You guys are nut-less!"
It took a while before the boys understood what he ment by 'nut-less' but soon or later..
"NANII!?" he retored.
"Yea thats right, no manhood!" he insulted.
they charged at him, but he easily chased them away.
"Hey, you okay?" he smiled at you, kneeling down to your level.
You nodded, not breaking eye contant. You hated him, even in class he was a total jerk to you, "Why are you he-"
"You know, close up, your kinda cute"

The mission to retrieve Sasuke was now in commence, and team Kakashi, were off.
Naruto stared akwardly at Sai, examing his features, as so did you.
While Naruto was trying to find a resemblence to Sasuke within him, you were just watching him from afar.
"well he does look a little like Sasuke...and sounds a bit like him..." Naruto mummbled.
"Can you stop staring at me please?" Sai asked to Naruto with a ^-^ look on his face, "I wont hesitate to slap you"
"WHAT!? He so does not look or sound anything like Sasuke!!!!!" Naruto exclaimed, "and why are you getting mad at me?! Nanime is staring at you too!"
Sai looked over at you, as you immedatly looked away, a deep crimson on your cheeks.
He gave a small chuckle before looking back to Naruto, "ah well, Nanime's face is nice to look at, unlike yours."
"Thats it! Your nothing like Sasuke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Naruto shouted, "I hate you! You act nothing like him!!"
"Now Naruto-" captio Yamato tryed to reason.
"Actally, i rather not be refered to as being anything like Sasuke-kun, seeing as though he left Konoha and is now a missing nin. Not to metion working with orochimaru. If you as me hes an insult." Sai explained.
Naruto's hand balled up into a tight fist.
"Naruto! Calm down" Sakura suggested, while giving Sai a smile.
Caption Yamato sighed, "At least one of us is tolerent-"
*Bam!* she his Sai square on his face, sending him flying a few meters, "Dont you ever talk about Sasuke-kun- you dont even know him, so dont act like you do!"
Sai rubbed his cheek with a smile still on his face, "So you put on a fake smile to fool me? i should watch out."
"Whats wrong with you! You just got punched and you smiling!!" Naruto claimed, holding him up by the collor.
'Hes just like Kosuke-kun...'
"Well you see, i dont hav what you guys call..'Emotions'" he commented.
Naruto dropped him, "I cant believe you!!" and stormed off a few feet ahead.
before you knew it,wood grew from under the ground, surrounding you, Sai, Naruto, and Sakura; forming a small box around you 4.
"If you guys dont learn to work together, then you can all stay in that box for the next few days.but if you do work like teamates, then ill treat you to a nice inn with an osen(hot spring). Your choice" Yamato said from outside.
* * *
The choice was made, you 4 tryed to get along....although you were already.
"Well ill be damned! You do have one!" You heard Sai's voice from the other side of the osen, where the boys were.
"Whats with you and dic*s?!!" Naruto retored.
You sighed while leanring your back onto the wood that seperated the 2 osen areas.
"Nanime-chan.." Sakura started.
"mm hm?" you asked, not opening your eyes. you were too relaxed.
"What do you think of Sai?" She inquired.
You opened you eyes slowly, staring into the water. Insted of your refelction, you saw an image of Sai, turning into an image of Kosuke.
"I donno..." you replyed, "He's a jerk alright.." you chuckled, "But so was Kosuke"
Sakura perked up, "Kosuke-kun..? i dont know what you saw in him.." she mummbled under her breath, "he was even more a jerk than Sai"
"Yea well..." you ruffled a hand through you hair, "he was always there for me, and i guess in the end, i fell for him"
She smiled reasuringly.
Next Day

You woke up with the sun flaring through the curtains. Groaning you managed to somhow get yourself out of bed, and infront of the window.
You saw Kosuke sitting on a small cliff drawing! you blinked a couple of times, while rubbing your eyes, but it turned out to be none other than sai. You smiled.
"Ohayo(morning)" you greeted, walking up behind him.
"Ohayo" he smiled.
"What are you drawing?" you inquired, looking over his shoulder.
he held it up a little so you could get a better look, "Abstrak[sp?] eyh?"
He nodded.
You took a seat beside him, 'hes just like Kosuke-kun'
"Do you do art aswell?" Sai inquired.
As if on cue, your notebook fell out of your pocket, and opening to one of your sketches.
"Whos this?" he asked, holding up the drawing of a boy who looked alot like him.
"Kosuke." you replyed, "..my childhood friend"
"Childhood friend..? did somthing happen?" he asked.
"..Yea...he died a few years back" you replyed, not making eye contact.
"I see, well at least you have parent who'll look out for you!" he said, trying to lighten up the mood.
You shook your head, "They died before him, and my brother also.."
"ahh...well thats too bad" a book fell from out of his bag. on the front their was a drawing of a little black-haired boy, and on the other side their was a white-haired one.
you stared at it for momment.
"Is it alright if you give it back now?" he asked with a small chuckle.
You blushed of embaressment before handing it back.
FF To When You Enter Orochimaru's Lair(sorry im lazy)

"Alright we'll split up into 3 groups. Ill go alone, Naruto with Sakura, and Sai with Nanime, got it?" Caption yamato instructed, "Check through all the doors to find Sasuke"
"Right" you nodded in understandment.
"Ill go fowards, Naruto and Sakura go right, Sai and Nanime left." he ended.
* * *
"Why do you care for Naruto?" Sai asked out of the blue.
"Ahh...well.." you kicked open another door, no Sasuke. "Hes like a younger brother verison of my older brother" you laughed, "if that makes any sense."
"I see" he opened another deserted chamber.
"My brother had Naruto's loud mouth attitude, carelesness-"
"Stupidity, bravery, and think-headedness?" he laughed.
You flintched before laughing, "Exactly."
He gave you a smile, "my brother was the same"
His eyes widened before he started to scrambling through his bag and taking out his book.
you looked at him in confusion but he gave you a happy smile.
"I remember what i wanted to draw!" and after a minute or two, his book was complete. the final page...was him and his brother holding hands.
After The Mission

Sai had gradualy been trying to learn to be less rude, but it wasnt quite working, no matter how hard he tryed...just like Kosuke-kun.
You sat on the edge of a small cliff, drawing a pictue of...Sai? you drew his facial expression he had when he remembered what he wanted to draw.
"is that me?"
You twirled around, slightly startled.
Blushing, you gave a little smile, handing him the picture.
"Wow...pretty good, better than mines" he ammited.
"Arigato" you thanked patting beside you, motioning him to sit beside you, and so he did.
Their was an akward silence as the wind whisltled.
"Sai-"
"Nanime-"
you both adressed at the same time.
"You fir-" Sai and you said in usion once again.
You flushed pink before looking away, he gave a low chuckle.
"ladies first" he smiled.
"Err...well..." you lookd back to him, "How do you feel about me?"
"Other than you looking cute?" he asked.
you nodded with a small shade of pink on your cheeks
"Hm...i think your too tolerent, understanding, non-back talking, talented, quiet, nice...and pretty" he ended, making you turn a deep crimson.
"Now, my turn" he lifted your chin, "how do you feel about me, nanime-chan?" he asked with a smile.
"I think...your nothing like Kosuke-kun!" you said, making his eyes widened. Not from your comment, but from you softly kissing him on the lips.
he wraped his arms around your waist, bringing you closer.
'I think your better...'
