THANK YOU AGAIN PEOPLE! YOU'RE AMAZING
RECAP:
"No, you can come." Marco said finally, smirking.
"Great! It's on." Jackson called as we continued walking. "Prepare yourself. We go out to this karaoke bar every Thursday after work."
"Oh great. What did I get myself into?" I thumped my head.
"No, it's great. You'll get to meet a lot of people. But the newcomers always get a solo, you were warned." Jackson laughed.
"Thanks." I said sarcastically.
"So for lunch, lets have coffee." Jackson said finally.
"What?" I asked, unsure if he actually said that.
"Coffee. Lunch. You and me." He repeated.
"Uh...y-yeah. Sounds good."
Jackson smiled. "No, it sounds great."
END OF RECAP
Jackson and I didn't really talk much at lunch, he just sort of stared at me. Or around me, I'm not quite sure.
I got home from work and flopped down on the couch, ready for some serious movie time and ice cream if Pete left me any.
I picked out my movie (Interview With A Vampire) and went to the kitchen.
"Thanks Pete." I mumbled as I picked up the empty ice cream carton from my freezer and threw it on the counter.
RING. RING. RING.
"Hello?" I answered my phone.
"Hey Roxy." I heard Pete's voice answer.
"Oh, hey Pete."
"What's wrong with you?"
"Oh nothing, just someone I know ate the last of my ice cream." I mumbled and glared at the empty ice cream carton on the counter.
"Hehe. That must be horrible. Whoever did it is sorry, I'm guessing."
"Yeah yeah, Pete. I know it was you."
"Oh. Well anyways, I just wanted to know how your first day of work went." He changed the subject.
But I felt a pang of guilt when he mentioned work. I mean, Pete and I aren't official, but we were getting there. But I have nothing to be guilty about, right? Jackson and I just went for coffee...he is really nice, and really good looking, but that's it. Right?
"Roxy?"
"Huh, oh. Sorry Pete. My mind kind of wandered. But yeah, work was great."
"That's good. Was everyone nice?" He questioned.
"Uh..yeah. They were all pretty nice." He could probably tell there was more to the story.
"Listen, do you want to go out tonight? We can get you an alarm clock and some groceries. Then maybe dinner?" Yehp, he knew there was something up. But his offer was nice nonetheless, though I knew he wanted to figure out what was going on.
"Pete, that sounds great."
"Well, I'll leave in 5 minutes. So I'll see you in 20, k?"
"Yeah, see yah soon." I smiled into the phone and clicked off.
"So thanks for taking me out tonight Pete." I smiled across the table to him, we were done with groceries and extras, and we were just having a quick dinner. We were trying to make sure the ice cream wouldn't melt before we got back.
"No problem." He smiled back and took a sip of his coke. "So tell me more about work today."
I knew that was coming. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid? I'm just over-analyzing things.
"Well my boss is really nice, Jordan Mackenzie. Uhm, there's this guy, Marco. He's got all these pictures of him and his boyfriend around his computer. He's pretty...rough around the edges. But Jackson said once I get to know him he's really nice."
"Nice. So who's Jackson?" Pete asked.
"Well he-"
"Roxy?"
Oh god. Please don't-
"Yeah! Hey, Roxy. Didn't think I'd see you here." Jackson waved and walked over to our table.
I looked up and smiled at Jackson. "Hey."
Pete coughed a bit. "Oh, Jackson this is....Pete." I wasn't sure if I should introduce him as my boyfriend or what. We still hadn't talked about that....
"Nice to meet you," Pete shook his hand and smiled.
"Oh hey! You're Pete Wentz. Jordan was thinking about asking you guys to do an interview." Jackson smiled.
"Sounds good."
"So Roxy, you didn't tell me you had a boyfriend."
"He's not...uh...he's not my-uh my boyfriend....I don't think." I looked at Pete.
There was a silence.
"Oh...well uh, I should probably get going. See you tomorrow Roxy." He waved and left.
"He seems nice." Pete said finally.
"Yehp. I went out to lunch with him." Hey, I might as well tell him, right?
"Oh."
"Pete, he just showed me around and offered to take me for coffee. I didn't want to have a lunch break alone, did I?"
"No, it's fine. I like that you've got friends there already." He grinned.
"C'mon. Lets go before the ice cream melts." I smiled back.
Pete finished off his coke and motioned for the bill.
"Hey Roxy, I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't mean to make things awkward with you and your...not boyfriend." He apologized the next day at work.
"Oh, it's fine. Pete and I are just...in a weird place right now. You know, not together, but more than friends." I explained.
"Oh yeah, I know how it is." He laughed.
So with all that aside, I got pretty comfortable with TUNE. I was still getting used to all the people, and definitely all the different hallways, but I was getting there.
Thursday finally came and I was at home getting ready before I met everyone at the bar.
Sadie had insisted on coming over, after I told her about the karaoke bar night. She wanted to 'help me get ready'.
"So, what's going on with this Jackson guy?" She asked as she threw another shirt across my room. I was pretty much all moved in now, except the fact that I still need to get a whole wack of furniture.
"Nothing. He's just being friendly." I shrugged as I sat on my bed, which is actually a futon but I never put it into 'couch mode'.
Make bed another thing I have to buy.
"Well, Pete doesn't think so. I heard him talking to Joe and Patrick." She started as she handed me a black corset-top with long black sleeves.
"What? What was he saying? Because Pete and I talked about it already....well actually, we didn't really talk about it. I just told him Jackson was a nice guy."
"Exactly. Pete sounded like he needed assurance you weren't going to start dating this guy. He really likes you Roxy."
"I know, I like him too." I sighed. "A lot."
"But?" Sadie asked.
I thought for a moment. "No. There aren't any doubts about it. I really like Pete, and I wouldn't want to do anything to mess up something we could have." I stated as I grabbed a pair of black gaucho pants. Sadie grabbed the corset top from my hands and shook her head. She handed me a plain black button up shirt and a red lace tank top instead.
"Good, I like that you've got your mind made up then. But Pete still thinks that you like this Jackson guy."
"But I don't...I mean, yeah, Jackson is really hot. But I don't know him as a person. Not only is Pete the most gorgeous guy I've ever laid eyes on, but I know him."
"I probably shouldn't be saying this because I really want to see you and Pete together, but maybe you should try to get to know Jackson..."
"Why though? I know that I want Pete, not Jackson."
"I know, but maybe Jackson is a nice guy too. Or maybe he's the guy you think is hot at first but once you get to know him, he's not all that special." She laughed. "Besides, I don't mean get to know Jackson in case you want to date him, I mean get to know him so you have a friend at work."
"Sadie, I don't know what I would do without you." I laughed and walked into the bathroom to change.
When I came out I was wearing the outfit Sadie had given me and I had my eyeliner done and my hair up.
"Perfect." Sadie approved.
I looked in the mirror. "You don't think it's too much black?"
Hah. You can never have too much black.
"Hun, it looks great. Don't worry about it." She smiled and played with a teddy bear from my bed.
"Alright well I'm off then. Be careful with Mrs. Martini. Her eye keeps popping off." I warned her.
"Mrs. Martini, Roxy?"
"Long story, I'll have to tell you later."
"I'll keep that in mind. See yah when you get back!"
REST IN THE RESULTS FOOLEZ ♥
Swim in the calm tonight.
This love does drown.
Sadie had tomorrow off and I didn't have to in to work tomorrow until later so we decided that we would do some catching up, just us. I would've invited her to the bar with me but I got the feeling it was a night for people from work. Which I totally understand.
"Yeah, I won't be too long."
"Good luck singing!"
Oh god. I forgot about that.
"Uh, maybe I should just-" I turned around to walk back in but Sadie was there and she pushed me out the door.
"You'll do great. I've heard you singing in the shower before, your voice isn't that bad." She smiled.
"But that's the shower. Doesn't everyone sound good in the shower?"
"Roxy, have you ever heard me singing in the shower?" She laughed. "It's not pretty."
I laughed and gave her a quick hug before grabbing my purse and going out the door.
Tonight is going to be fun....hah.
So that would be chapter 12. YEAH!
