[Sugar We're Goin Down][100][To The End]
"Wow. I've never had as much fun as I did back then," I said as I looked at the photo album that one of our old fans had sent us. Two years after everything had gone down and I was currently sitting in the study of our old house, Caleb beside me looking over my shoulder.
"Who was that mom?" He asked, pointing to a picture of Christine and I when we had first started all of this.
"Her name is Christine, and you will probably never ever hear of her. But she used to be my best friend," I said, smiling at him.
"I thought Auntie Kelsey was your best friend?" He said, tilting his head just like his dad did.
"Auntie Kelsey is my best friend. So is Auntie Jewel. She used to be my best friend, but she didn't like your daddy," I said and flipped the page to a picture of me, Kelsey, Gideon and Ryan.
"GIDDY!" Caleb yelled at the top of his lungs, sending Patrick running into the study and me laughing at him.
"Yes. That's Gideon when he was a bit younger," I said. Gideon and Ryan had taken their sideproject band on as a fulltime project and they were amazingly huge. And we saw them quite a bit.
"Ahh. Looking through the pictures?" Patrick asked as he pulled another chair up beside me and Caleb climbed onto his lap. They were quite a pair, honestly. I had never seen two people who looked so much like each other.
"Where is Katey?" I asked, as I closed up that photoalbum and opened another one.
"In her crib, sleeping finally," He said. Just as he finished speaking, a wail erupted over the baby monitor, making me laugh.
"I'll get her. You want daddy to show these to you Caleb?" I asked as I sat one of the albums in Patrick's lap. He nodded his head quickly and I pulled his hat off.
"Aw mom," He whined and took it from where I had thrown it into Patrick's lap and pulled it back on his head. I smiled and walked to the nursery that was now painted a nice pink color. I walked to the crib and picked up my babu girl.
"What's wrong?" I asked as I rocked her.
"She misses her GodDad, that's what's wrong," A voice said walking into the room.
"Don't be so cocky, Bloom," I said and shook my head. Derek and Jewel were Katherine Nicole's godparnets.
"Yeah Derek. Don't be cocky. Because we all know that it's me who she misses," Jewel said walking in beside him and standing on her tiptoes to hit him in the head. I laughed.
"When did you two get in?" I asked her as she took Katey away, who immediately stopped crying. Go figure. My kids are more dependent on their godparents then they are on me. Eh, oh well. Just means I don't have to deal with them as much. I'm kidding. I adore my children and I couldn't picture my life without them. But Caleb had already been on at least three trips tp California to visit Kelsey and Pete, with us of course. He's only three. And a terribley spoiled three year old at that.
"So? Missing the spotlight much?" Derek asked as us four walked back into the study to find Caleb and Patrick still going through our pictures. I shook my head.
"Not too much. I'm living vicariously through all these little bands on Motion Picture," I said. Yes. Patrick and I had opened our own record label. Even though he did most of the business part of it, I did a lot of the picking bands out. And a lot of that kinda stuff, came from Jewel. Who was at so many local shows, local being anywhere she could get into a venue that had a few unknown bands, that I could probably never even count the bands she had found for me. Of course, I always went and checked them out after she did. But whatever. It's all the same. Everyone knew that I would never be able to disconnect my ties with music. Or with FueledByRamen. Since we are a subsidary of FBR, just like Decaydence.
"Well. Aren't you just the perfect extended family?" Pete said, walking into the room a babybag in his hand.
"Naw. We're missing you three," I said with a smile.
"Uncle Petey!" Caleb cried and jumped off his chair and ran to wrap his arms around Pete's legs. I hope Caleb grows, because it would suck to grow up as short as most of us are.
"Hey kiddo," Pete said, lifting him up as Kelsey walked in with Maddison. She was cute. And born just a couple weeks before Katey. Caleb pouted when she walked in and moved around until Pete let him down.
"What's wrong?" I asked as he hid behind my legs.
"Too many baby girls," He muttered, making me laugh.
"You can't be afraid of girls. You are Katey's big brother. You have to be brave and take care of her. Maddi isn't going to bother you either. She's just a few weeks older than Katey," I said and patted his head.
Do you remember how long ago this all started? It started because I wanted coffee. One stupid, little coffee. And now. I have an entire lifetime full of memories. Memories that would have never had happened. Sometimes, I hate Peter Wentz to death. But there are other days where I sit back and think about how much of this was his fault. Amazingly enough. I couldn't imagine my life without this kind of stuff. And I hopefully will never live to see the day that it all ends. And even though life isn't always perfect, at one point it was. And I will always be able to relive those days. Nothing could ever change the way that those days were percieved by me. Who the hell would I have been without these kids? Without these people? Without music?
Who knows? Not me. And who cares?
"Liz! Are you coming?" Patrick yelled up the steps to me. I laughed and signed off of my computer.
"Yeah. Caleb, is all your stuff in the car?" I asked as I passed his room, where he was tying his soccer cleats together quickly.
"Yes mom. Jeezus," He said rolling his eyes. I rolled my eyes back and walked to Katey's room.
"Come on Katey. Let's go," I said and held out my hand for her.
"Mom. I'm not three anymore," She said and walked passed me.
And with those words of knowledge for a seven year old, I realized, quite quickly, that she wasn't three anymore.
But memories of her being three, much like the memories of the old days, would always be the same.
