Addicted: Part Two

"Oh, it's AWFUL! Okay, the author had the two main characters get their donkey stolen. Then, the author forgets that the donkey was stolen and the donkey is still there, just as if it had never been stolen in the first place. Then, STILL later on, he remembers that the donkey was stolen and he just pretends that the donkey never came back! I'm telling you, it was painful to read." Sage pours beer into a glass and sets it in front of the guitar player. "There you go, Cassidy. How'd the set go tonight? I came in just as you were leaving."
Cassidy shrugs, sucking on a strand of red hair. "It went okay, I guess. What'd you think, Skylar? You were the only one out in the audience watching me." She grimaces. Skylar flashes her a grin. "Don't worry, well get a bigger crowd next time. I'm sure someone's bound to notice your talent sooner or later." Cassidy shrugs and hops off the bar stool, slinging her guitar case over her shoulder. She slaps a twenty-dollar bill on the counter. "Keep the change for tips. See you guys tomorrow night." She walks out of the bar, her white skirt swishing around her ankles.
Sage groans. "Five times you hit the bathroom, and did I have enough courage to tell her I want to go out with her? Nooo. Of course I didn't. Even if I did, she wouldn't want me anyway. She's probably straight." Skylar winces sympathetically and puts his hand on Sages shoulder. "You'll get her next time," he reassures his friend. Sage smiles weakly. "Yeah. Sure I will. Sure..." She picks up her bag and ducks under the counter. "I'm off. Tomorrow night, then? Ill try not to be so late..." She, too, heads off, leaving Skylar alone.
A tall man with dark red hair moves from his place against the wall to the counter. Skylar looks up. The man smiles. Skylar takes off his apron and joins the man, and they walk out into the sultry night.
