You felt the hat being lifted up off your head. You heard applause as you went to go sit in between Hermione and Seamus and across from ron and harry.
"what took ya so long" ron asked
"ummm...the hat and i had a little chat..." you said watching the little first years being sorted. Finally after all the kids had been sorted, the old man with the long beard who had introduced you earlier stood back up and started speaking. "whos that?" you asked Hermione.
"that would be the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore."
"No way...THE Albus Dumbledore?" you asked excitedly.
"why are so excited about him?" harry asked you.
"are you kidding? Hes the most famous wizard besides Voldem-" you began.
"Don't say his name!" ron hissed at you.
"Whats wrong with it? Its just a name. Honestly your just as bad as the kids at my old school."
" Kate, Im sure Harry doesn't want to be reminded of him...you know about harry potter don't you?" Seamus asked you. Seamus had never actually told you every detail about him but still you knew everything there was needed to know.
"Who doesn't? I just don't obsess over it. Im sure if i were him i wouldn't want to be reminded of that." You looked up at harry and he gave you a wink. Your stomach flipped.
Dumbledore was still going on about rules, so technically you tuned him out thinking about what the hat had said. A rare gift. What rare gift? You never had been informed of a 'rare gift'
"Tuck In!!" Dumbledore's words took you out of your thoughts. Food appeared on your plates. you ate and chatted away with harry, ron , and hermione as Seamus went to go sit with his new girlfriend Ginny. Ron stole glances at them every few minutes to make sure nothing got out of hand. Ron and Hermione had to go to their prefect duties leaving you and harry to walk by yourselves to the common room. You guys just talked about things like your old school and his past years.
"ok here we are." harry said taking you to the portrait.
"you can't be tired now....." you said.
" you want to get in trouble on your first night here?"
"well i have gotten out of trouble before I can do it again." you replied.
"well ok...I show you around the school. I just have to get something."
"yeah me too." you told him with a michevious smile.
YOu walked up to your trunk and pulled out a few doo-dads that might come in handy. You walked down stairs to find no body. you walked over to the couch but before you could sit down you were picked up and twirled though the air. You thought you were floating because nothing appeared to be holding you up.
I have the gift of levitation. (me: I don't think so.)
you can't just leave me like that. (me: ummm ... I just think I did.)
"I'm not as dumb as you think, but where to put you..." 'OMG!! whats that?!' " Its me, the dumb hat on your head."
'ha ha very funny...hats can't talk'
"obviosly not very smart so you can't be in Ravenclaw."
'fine fine I belive you i just haven't talked to a Hat before.'
"well...maybe you could be in ravenclaw...ok enough chat..where shall we put you....ok well..your not power hungry so not slytherin...your smart (maybe not in the common sense section)and determined maybe Ravenclaw...Your really loyal and friendly so maybe hufflepuff...your also very brave, stick up for your friends, your a finnigan, and youre a prankster...hmmmm..you seem to have a rare gift you don't even know about..."
'ok this is just a tad wierd ... how do you know all this stuff and what rare gift are you talking about? the only gift i have on me is the pack of dungbombs that my uncle gave me..'
