"You throwing a party?" Yusuke asked incredulously. "Call it a reunion", you replied with a small smile. "Now go on, go back and stake your territory like proper males," you cooed, shooing them back down the hall as quickly as you could. "What are you up to neko?" Hiei asked turning and standing his ground around the area of the grand staircase in the middle of the floor. "She's trying to get rid of us, or at least keep us as far from her as possible. Koenma did mention her dislike of us spirit detectives," Kurama spoke up from the doorway of a room he had just been in. "Yes, now get!" you huffed, growing impatient. "Actually," he said calmly, "I find this room suitable. I prefer the central location, it allows easy access to the other areas of the building." (I don't want you this close to me Kurama. Pick a different room.) (I am not at all close to your rooms Mitsuko and this is my room.) (Don't you dare challenge my authority fox!) you responded, anger boiling up at having him defy you so calmly. He raised his eyebrows slightly but made no other move. (I don't believe you have any authority over us Mitsuko-san, Koenma is in charge of the spirit detectives.) Your fists balled up as you suppressed you urge to shout, to hit him, to pick him up and throw him down the hall, to show him who was in charge. But Koenma and you would have another massive fight if you were to start beating up his favorite pets and ended up accidentally killing one, since surely they all would get involved if you took violent action. You were so unused to a direct order being so thoughtlessly brushed off that it left you speechless for a minute. You eyes glowed red as the anger sloshed around inside, mixing with uncertainty and an edge of fear.
You felt a release of pressure just as you heard the quiet whoosh that meant youd lost control slightly. "Damn shoukyaku hiaburi," you hissed heading towards the source of the sound. In a room behind you a potted plant had burst into flames, the fire shooting up high enough to lick the ceiling. You reached out a hand and put out the fire, sucking all its energy into you, getting almost all your energy back. The moment the last flame died though, the wilted and burnt plant began to straighten out. Its leaves turned green again, it didn't just come fully back to life, it even grew a few inches. "How'd you miss something like that?" Kuwabara asked, gawking at the plant. Your eyes narrowed to slits as you gazed at him. "Idiot, that was obviously one of her attacks," Hiei snapped. "Wow, you can make things explode!" Yusuke cheered. "Only combustible material explodes Yusuke, everything else just bursts into flames. Shoukyaku hiabori." You snapped and the plant burst into flames once more before you took back the fire.
"Spontaneous combustion? I thought the Hinotamas didn't have any fire attacks, they relied on their inferno of a habitat to protect them?" Hiei was examining you again. "They say they don't have attacks, but no clan could survive establishing itself anywhere in the Makai without massive amounts of violence. Mostly they're defensive though." "It makes sense," Kurama said trying to steer the conversation away from what he sensed was a dangerous topic. "Why don't you guys go pick rooms?" "Oh, I'm so calling two!" Yusuke shouted as he ran off down the hall. (Wise move distracting them, but don't cross me again boy,) you snapped stalking off to get your bag.
Keibihiko was sitting placidly next to the gym bag, his fluffy ears drooping. When he saw you his ears shot up and his tail began to wag happily. "Hello!" you said in the happy high pitched voice reserved for babies and animals. "Did you miss me?" He jumped up and down, prancing around. "I'm sorry I took so long. Mommy tried to hurry." You sank to your knees and were rewarded with delighted yips as Keibihiko jumped all over the hall in delight. You cuddled him, pleased to have a moment of relaxation in what promised to be a stressful time. "I still don't understand your choice in pets," came Hiei's cold voice from behind you. You held the dog closer and responded in an equally icy tone. "Well it wasn't exactly my choice, he was a present. But that being said he's perfectly adorable. Not that you would understand the concept." You glanced back at him surreptitiously, he was leaning against a door with his eyes closed as if to avoid the sight of you, that or he was lost in thought. "Hmph." "Is that your room then?" you asked as the door disappeared from under his shoulder and Yusuke's shout of "hey these connect too!" reached your ears. Hiei fell back onto the ignoramus and a second later there was shouting and thumping before Yusuke's spirit gun magically discharged. Recognizing a bad situation for your puppy to witness, you gathered your things and headed back to your suite. "Your idiots are killing each other," you called to Kurama as you passed and with a sigh he went to go break up the fight.
When you sensed that the disturbance had died down you padded back down the hallway, silent as a hunting cat, with your spirit energy imperceptible to anyone more than three feet away. All four of them were in what appeared to be Yusuke's room (or one of them since he had two) discussing their situation. Well discussing isn't the word for it, complaining in loud whining voices and brooding is closer to what was going on. You slipped into the room unnoticed in your cat form and took up position by the window. Regaining your human form you leaned against the glass nonchalantly and joined in. "You know you guys didn't bring any of your stuff?" "Yeah! What are we supposed to do? The cat has all her girly crap all packed up, even her freaking dog..." Yusuke went off on a rant while Kuwabara nodded in agreement. Kurama turned his nervous chuckle into a cough and shook his head. "Well baka neko, what do you propose we do?" Hiei sneered. "Baka- nek-" Yusuke turned and tumbled off the back of the couch which he was perched on. "When'd you get here?" "About when you said and 'of all the people to be stuck with! That stupid bitch, who does she think she is anyway? God! I bet I could kick her ass any day of the week, just like I beat you Kuwabara'," you said in a perfect imitation of his voice. You raised your eyebrows as he paled slightly. "You heard all that?" "And more, it's not like you stopped there detective. But what is important right now is preserving what little hygiene you four have." You gave a delicate sniff. "What little there is. Ahem, that entails clothes and cleansing products. Call Koenma on your wee compact, throw a fit, then let someone competent list what you need. It should be here by dinner." You twitched aside the curtains and looked up at the sun. "Yes, plenty of time," you breathed, your mind already on a new course. "Well that's all the helpful hints I have, recommence bitching at your leisure." With flawless grace you strode out of the room.
aw, they're so mean to me!!! damn bitches!
i need to be nicer! more open to others!
i need to kil them all, simple as that
In the hallway you fidgeted through your pockets for your walkie talkie, pulled it out, and tuned it to its lowest frequency. [Hot kitty to ice mama,] your old codenames sprung painfully to the surface of your mind as you depressed the button and said two words "Captain Hanagoori". It was almost a minute before a crackle heralded a response. "Mitsuko. To what ~~~ do I owe the pleasure ~~ of this chat?" "You know whats been going on in the ningenkai. Im here to track down those responsible." "Here?" There were so many emotions bundled into that one staticy question word, fear love, hope anger, loathing jealousy and surprise screamed at you across the void of space and understanding that separated you from her. [And all over a man,] you thought in disgust. "Yes Aisu, I'm here, in the Makia, can you meet me at the hotel?" "What time?" "Ere the set o the sun?" "I'll try but I'm not close. So settle for before we meet the rosy fingered goddess again." "Fine by me." The garbled transmission ended and you stuffed the device away in the depths of your coat before stalking around the corner towards your room, you hands burried deep in your pockets as your mind was sunk in thought. She'd try to arrive by sunset but thought shed make it sometime during the night. Rosy fingered dawn, you smiled at the Homeric allusion; human literature had come in handy over the years for codes.
You entered the center room of the five, it was only a few degrees warmer than the hall, but enough that you were perfectly comfortable with your coat on. You had decided to make it your field office and thats where you had dragged a desk to the center of the room and piled it with all your case files. Shutting of the heater was the first order of business, then you opened the windows and the doors to the balcony to let in the breeze. [Damn ice demon wanting her cold,] you thought to yourself before retreating into one of the sitting rooms. Both corner rooms were sitting rooms, equipped with couches and chairs instead of beds, and you had them both at 85 F, pleasant to you, bearable to others. Keibihiko was snoozing on a sofa as you tossed your coat over a chair and headed for the bedroom. A blast of heat hit you when the door opened, 100 degrees of pure bliss. You slid into the room, grateful to be comfortable for once. Most of your life you lived with others in control of your environment, rarely did you get the opportunity to make yourself very comfortable. You slipped off your boots and trudged to the bed, careful of your legs now that they were unsupported. Visions of tropical islands and warm, sandy beaches lulled you to sleep.
"Mitsuko-san. Mitsuko?" Kuramas polite voice and gentle tapping at the door woke you. "Here, you're being too quiet. MITSUKO! Get your lazy ass over here!" Yusuke shouted banging on the door. You rolled over and groggily sat up. "Thats it, I'm coming in!" "Dont." You spoke just loud enough for them to hear you. "You're alive in there after all?" "Unfortunately," you replied dryly as you made your way through the darkened room. "You woke me." Combing your fingers through your hair you opened the door to the hall and the three young men standing there were bowled over by the burst of hot air. "Holy shit! What are you cooking in there?" Yusuke gasped crawling away. "Whoa, were you really asleep in that heat?" Kuwabara asked fanning himself. "What I do on my own time in none of your business baka hentai," you barked, cranky and peeved. "As a Hinotama you need to keep your environment up to a certain temperature, correct?" Kurama asked from a decent distance away. "Hmph, youre all treating my like a leper, this is a step in the right direction. And, I'm not a Hinotama," you stated staring at him hard. "The clan would say the same. Now what is it you four want?" "Dinner!" Yusuke and Kuwabara shouted in unison. "We're going down to the dinning room." You paused, malicious thoughts springing to life. [If I let them go down, they'll be dead after the first bite, from poison or attacks. Thats one less thing I have to worry about then, or should I say four.] You looked at them again, a smirk crossing your lips. [Ack, but I cant let them die-- then Id never get my Playstation.] "Go ahead down if you want, just dont eat anything," you said carelessly, before turning to close the door. "Hey wait! What do you mean dont eat anything?" "She means the food would be poisoned." "A point for the fox." "Well what are we supposed to eat then?" "Roomservice!" Kuwabara shouted. You groaned at the humans stupidity. "Kurama would you care to explain why room service is such a bad idea?" "Well, since you asked so nicely Mitsuko-san," he said with a smile and the little brightly colored anime background popped up behind him. "Roomservice is a bad idea for several reasons. From what Mitsuko has told us of the situation no food we get from this establishment would be safe to eat. Secondly, ordering food would be like inviting assassins into our rooms, there are plenty of people around who would love to kill some of Spirit Worlds forces-" "Well what are we supposed to do for dinner?" Kuwa whined. "Give me 20 minutes, I'll make something," you sighed. They glanced at you suspiciously and grumbled before moving off, but to your chagrin Hiei lead them right into your office. "Dont touch anything!" you shouted as Yusuke got near your desk. "Do you need any help?" Kurama surprised you, he had moved closer, apparently trying to see into your room. "I am perfectly capable, and offering to help isn't enough of an apology for earlier." "I'll take that as a no then Mitsuko-san. And I have nothing to apologize for. I was just offering my assistance." He walked off towards the others, hands in pockets, leaving you frustrated and annoyed. [Must be too much contact with unfamiliar demons,] you thought returning to your room. You passed through to the sitting room and went to your bag, Keibihiko watched you through a sleepy eye. Thanking your lucky stars for enlargement and shrinking charms and Spirit Worlds resident witch you pulled a full sized cooler and camping stove out of the bag and set them on the floor. In a few minutes you had bacon frying and were slicing open rolls. "Sandwiches tonight, I'm not settled enough to cook properly," you explained to your sleepy dog; the smell of bacon was waking him up though/ Trotting to hurry through the cold, you carried everything into your office and set it on the large coffee table. Keibihiko followed you out and you set a plate of bacon on the floor for him after pulling off the fat. They all looked up from their game of cards and jumped slightly. "Ohh...I smell bacon," Kuwa drooled, following the scent to the table. "Hey what are these?" he asked, discovering the sandwiches. "BLTs, if you dont like something pick it off." "You- cooked us food?" Yusuke asked in surprise. "I said I would baka tantei, but its not much, I'm still half asleep." "I think I love you kitty girl!" Kuwabara cried launching himself at you. While he crashed into the couch you had just vacated you caught him by the collar and tossed him 15 feet, out into the hallway. "No touching," you snapped irritably. "Whoa, you've got some strong arm there," Yusuke commented leaning backwards to look at Kuwabara. "He tried to hug me," you shuddered at the thought. You were not a big fan of physical contact with strangers, unless that is, they were really yummy. Yusuke was stuffing his face as Kuwa stumbled back into the room and towards the table, but Hiei was staring at you. "You're not eating." "No Im not." "Arent cho ungry?" Yusuke slurred through a mouth full of food. "Not right now." "What did you do to the food?" Hiei quipped. "Nothing you insolent little worm, would I feed it to my dog if there was something wrong with it? Anyway there are much cleaner ways to dispose of people like you."
You hustled them out as quickly as possible and settled down to do paperwork and wait for Aisu. You kept track of the boys too, they apparently had settle din Kuramas room of all places and were playing cards and telling dirty jokes. Around midnight you felt her, down on the street below, she was looking for your room, feeling you out. You locked Keibihiko in his portable kennel and tried once more to mentally prepare for the encounter. Your kodachi was strapped firmly by your side.
oh oh now we get to met the demon who wants me dead!
now i get to kill the demon that wants me dead! she shall fell the full force of my fury!!
No new people to introduce today, perhaps i should have waited on Aisu's profile but oh well. So next time, the reunion, how will it go? It's about time for another outburst of violence, don't you think? Come back next time for: Hanagoori-kun, Captain of Makai Intelligence
