No Escaping Destiny -- [Ancient Egypt] -- Prince Atemu [Prologue]

Welcome all, to No Escaping Destiny! I'm very, very excited about writing this story; it's been in my mind for ages now. =P I must say, too, that this chapter was absolutely a BALL to write. xD I did something different, and wrote the prologue in Atemu's P.O.V. The prolgue makes much more sense in his view anyway, but your P.O.V is coming up in the next chapter, so keep a look out. Also, I adore ratings and messages, so please do so if you like the story. ^^

[Atemu's P.O.V.]

"The palace is no more than less than half a day away...we shall be there soon, son." Your father's voice rang out next to you, breaking your thoughts from the blazing hot sun. Your father and you were each on a horse, and there were servants walking next to you, trying to keep up with the horse to cover you from the hot sun. There were other various people behind you. You, your father Pharaoh Akunumkanon, a few Priests and some guards were traveling back to your home, the palace. You were visiting the city of Memphis, for a High Temple of Isis there had been robbed and torn apart, and the preists and priestesses felt that it was important enough for the Pharaoh come to investigate. Everything had seem to have been stolen; not one trasure was left behind in the temple. The thief and/or thieves that did it did not leave a trace behind, and there were no witnesses. As much as you liked the High Temple, you felt it unnesscary for your father to drag you along. You turned back to ook at your father, who's entire head was covered by a thin white hood, like your own.

"Alright then, Father." You nodded, and went back to staring out at the horizon.

Out ahead, you see a small shape...a human shape. It seemed to be lying on the ground; you shook your head to see if you were seeing a mirage. My Ra..who would be lying out on the middle of the desert on a blazing hot day like this? The person intrested you, and you nudged your horse to go faster, which it did. Ignoring the various shouts of your father and everyone else, you reached the person and nearly fell off your horse in shock. Lying there was a girl around your age, with cuts and bruises visible through her ripped clothing. There was dried blood all aroud her; you had no idea whether she was alive or not. Jumping off your horse, you moved closer to her...something was awfully familiar about her..

Pushing back the girl's hair, you let out a loud gasp. Ra, it's ~~~~~! ~~~~~...if you had seen this girl in any other prediciment than the one right now, you would've sneered in disgust. This girl was the most annoying, rude, and stubborn person you ever met...but you haven't seen her for four years. She was the daughter of Thabit and his wife Meskhenet, one of the richest nobleman and lady in Egypt. Thabit and your father were great friends, but Thabit often brought this girl with him when he visited or stayed at the castle. You and ~~~~~ never got along; she was a bit odd, always reading everything that crossed her path and staying in one place for hours at a time. One time, she was sitting in the Royal Garden, next to the lotus flowers when you were taking a walk. She seemed to be staring into nothingness. 6 hours later you came back and she was still there, still staring. You tried to talk to her, but she just stared at yout with her unusual dark green eyes and told you to go away. How rude!

Meep. ;-; I've been murdered...in the prologue! [Me: Er...]
Poor Atemu! I was mean to him! [Me: o.O;;;;;]
Serves him right for inturrupting me...

When Thabit became too busy to stop by the palace anymore, you were finally free from her selfishness and presense. But now...four years later, here she was. You were too shocked to see if she was still breathing. You slowly reached down to he torn face; her face was screwed up in pain. You felt a twing of remorse; you often wished that this girl would go jump of a pyramid, but now you felt a strange sadness seeing her pretty face bloodied. Wait..pretty face? When did I... You shook your head, and quickly grabbed her wrist and felt for a pulse, as you were taught to do by the medics at the palace. You let out a relieved sigh; she still had a pulse. Thank Ra..I wonder why --? Your thoughts were cut off by the arrival of your father and the others. "Son, why did you --?!" He stopped in mid-sentence, staring down at you and the battered girl.

"I found her like this...she's unconcious, I think."

"Dear Ra, is that ~~~~~? The daughter of Thabit and Meskhenet?"

"Yes, father. Have you any idea...?" Suddenly, an elderly Priestess came running up and clamped her hand to her mouth.

"My dear Isis, the poor girl! Pharaoh, we must get her to the palace before her injuries cause her death." Akunumkanon nodded, and you watched as the elderly priestess called for the guards help her lift ~~~~~ onto a horse, her limp body helpless. The priestess got back on the horse with ~~~~~ in front of her, and made sure that she had her in a tight grip. She nodded at your father, and you got back on your horse. Quickening your paste, you reached the palace; there was a welcoming back group waiting for their Pharaoh's return, but it was rushed because your father was interested what had happened to ~~~~~~.

"Atemu, send the guards to Thatbit's village and find out where he is. It doesn't seem like him to let this girl wonder so far and get so injured..." He told you, about half an hour after ~~~~~ was being fixed up. You nodded, and did what you were told.

He wanted me to die? >>; [Me: Er...not really!]
I LIVE! >D [Me: -backs away-]
~~~~~ made a full recovery in the next six months; her cuts and bruises faded, and she was cleaned up a lot. You couldn't help notice how beautiful she had gotten, as much as you hated to admit it. Her long purpleish-black hair reaching her waist, her bangs falling elequently in front of her deep green eyes. She also had put two golden clasps in her hair in the front. Her lips were a soft pink color, and her skin was a very light tan. There were still slight marks from the cuts, but were hardly noticeable. The guards you sent out discovered that the village that ~~~~~~ and her family lived in was perfectly fine, but Thabit and Meskhenet had gone missing some missing before you found ~~~~~~. There was no sign of struggle or break in at their home, but some gold and precious items were taken, as well as all the food. Many people, you one of them, assumed that her parents had left on their own, leaving ~~~~~~ behind.
~~~~~~ memory seemed to had been damaged also; she said the lasts thing she remembers saying good-bye to her parents when she was going to the market. Your father says this possibly means that she can't remember anything that happened aftre her parents dissapeared. ~~~~~~ was very effected by all this; in the first couple months she wouln't speak to anyone. Nonetheless, she seems the same; quiet, stubborn, and gets lost in her thoughts. You notice she still seems to hate you; she avoids speaking to you at all times, except for the one time she 'thanked' you for saving her. You remembered it faintly..

"Atemu...may I speak to you?" Her voice was small, like she hadn't used it for years, even though she only was mute for about 2 months.

"I suppose. It's a miracle that you're talking to anyone, actually; I should be honored." You hadn't meant to say it like that, and you tried to ignore it. ~~~~~~, however, didn't.

"It's a miracle I'm not slapping you in the face for saying that." Her voice grew sharp and harsh, and you felt yourself getting angry.

"Try and act a little nicer to me -- If it wasn't for me, you would've been fresh meat for the cobras." You spat, glaring at her.

"That's what I came her to talk to you about; I wanted to thank you for saving me, but if you're to be a bastard about it all, nevermind. Good day, Prince." Before you could reply, she was already walking off to her room.

Hah! It makes up for being a bloody mess when he saw me before..

Jerk. >>;
You two never really talked much after that. It's been two years since you rescued her; you were now 19 and she was turning 18 in couple of days. She, under your father's invitation, has been staying in the palace, but as you grew older, you had formal and royal duties to attend to. Everyone said it was nearing the time to prepare 'to rule a country', so you didn't have the time to see her. But now, you seem to have slowed down on your royal duties and have found time to spend at the palace more, where ~~~~~ was...
