Your moment of inspiration had come in the early hours of Thursday morning, but you went on as if nothing unusual had happened. You went on with the paperwork, the briefings and the wandering around bored. Friday night you managed to sneak away from everyone with a new novel and curled up on your living room couch to read. It was after ten when you heard someone at the door and looked up from the book with a frown. [Ugh, who's disturbing me now?]
"What is it?" you asked the demon, who was standing there holding a book. "I'm sorry to disturb you Mitsuko-san, but I was wondering if perhaps you could help me." "With what?" you asked with a flare of suspicion. "With an assignment for-" "Assignment? Your homework?! You want help with your homework?" you asked in disbelief. "You, the brilliant genius of your school?" "It's for English," he sweat-dropped and held out the book. "I excel more in math and science. I was wondering if you could assist me with a project." "This is too funny; come on in." You swung your legs off the couch as he came in and took the book from him. He sat down rather nervously and began explaining, "Since English is your first, human, language, I thought you would be the best person to ask. We're reading Shakespeare in the original in class and we have to pick out a passage to analyze." "Hamlet! I love this play, the end cracks me up," you said as you flipped through the book.
He gave you a very serious, very worried look on hearing you found the end of a great tragedy- amusing. "I wasn't the only one Kurama, don't give me that look! The loading of the stage is the best part of a Shakespearean tragedy. Everyone dies melodramatically! Well you could always do the done to death 'to be or not to be,' the pros and cons of suicide." "" "Or notbut it is a good part." "We have to recite it in front of the class, to practice our pronunciation." "Well then you had best not do Ophelia's mad rantings, it might give people ideas." "Mitsuko," he sighed, looking as if he was reconsidering having come.
"To die: to sleep; No more," you stood up and posed dramatically. "and by a sleep to say we end/ The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks/ That flesh is heir to, tis a consummation/ Devoutly to be wish'd." "You have this all memorized?" he asked. "To die, to sleep;/ To sleep; perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;" you looked down at him with a smile, "For in that sleep of death what dreams may come/ When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,/ Must give us pause: there's the respect/ That makes calamity of so long life;/ For who would bare the whips and scorns of time,/ The oppressor's wrong-" He was looking at you with such an odd expression that you stopped and stood up straight. "What?"

"Oh, you're just really good at this," he gestured slightly. "And you don't want to play Hamlet in front of your whole class, is that it?" "I'd rather not, it's true." "What a wuss! You're fine standing in front of hundreds of bloodthirsty demons and killing someone, but thirty students-" "Mitsuko! I just prefer not to draw attention to myself in class." "You're the top of your class, that's drawing attention. Ohh," you drawled, with an evil glint in your eye. "You're not the top in English are you? That's why you're asking for help isn't it? Foreign lit, hehehe." "I'm not sure whether or not I find this laughter more disturbing then the way you laugh when you talk about killing us." You got your laughter under control and sat back down. "Ok, say "shuffled off this mortal coil" and watch the 'l's." (Kurama: -_-"""")
he actually needed help with homework? this is unbelievable!
i actually agreed to help him? now thats the strangest
raindrops keep falling on my head
You had to catch Kurama during the next week, he was in fact, trying to avoid you, but at last you pinned him down. "So how'd it go pretty boy?" "School has been going fine Mitsuko." You tapped your foot impatiently and he sighed. "The presentation went well...Sensei was impressed." "Did you beat out whoever the other big nerd is in there?" "Other big nerd?" his eyes widened noticeably. "Well Mitsuko-san, I received the highest grade in the class on that project." "I rock! Call me Mitsuko-sensei!" "Somehow I don't find that term appropriate." "Ah, so you've been embarrassed that I'm such a great English teacher, that's why you've been hiding!" "I have not been hiding." He glanced to the side as someone passed by. You looked too, then looked back at him. "You were hiding! You don't want the boys to see you with me. Will they tease you for being with the mean, old kitty?" "I'd just rather not have to listen to their complaints," he said as he brushed past you. "Don't be an ass!" you called at his retreating back.
You frowned after him, what had that last comment meant? You knew the boys trash talked about you behind your back, you'd heard enough reports from your own people about Yusuke, but was Kurama saying he didn't like to hear you insulted? Or just that he didn't want to have to defend you, which he'd feel obligated to do since he owed you now? "I've been sleeping with them for over thirty-five years and I still don't always get men," you said. You looked down and shrugged at Claire who had popped out of nowhere. "I've been babysitting you for over forty years, and half the time I still don't know what you're thinking. Speaking of which Dobu tells me you're not taking your vitamins!" "My God! Does he tell you everything I do?!" "Pretty much. Now go take your medicine before I call your mom." "Damn nosy brat," you muttered as you went up to your room to follow orders. "You can't tell who's the superior with her ordering me around all the time."
why does an eight year old boss me around?
why as a little kid been 'babysitting' me since i was *counts on fingers* 16?!
they keep falling
After you'd done as Claire 'requested' you decided it was time that Lily got a magic instructor, and you knew just the one you wanted. Megumi was just going to grab Lily for her bo staff lesson when you handed her Keibihiko and asked her to walk him. She was completely distracted and went jogging off down the hall. "But Miti, what about my lesson?" Lily yelled from her room. "It's time you learned some magic kid, we're gonna go snag your teacher. But she's down in the vault, so we might have to bring some crow bars too have to pry her loose." "Pry her lose? She's not locked up is she?" "Oh no," you laughed, "She's the head of security, and she just hates being separated from her precious work. Her name's Nicole, but we normally call her Nic or Nikki, and she can bea bit strange." "Strange how?" "Just wait, you'll see."

Down an express elevator to the lowest basement level and through a series of twisting halls was the entrance to Spirit World's vault. Next to the large blast door was a smaller, but still unbreachable portal. You typed in three different access codes and the smaller door swung open. "Hey hacker, how's it going?" The girl looked up from her consol and spun the chair around. She was sitting cross-legged on the black rolly chair, her dark pants rolled up to her knees, a black hoody partially covered her dark blue tank top. She had two pairs of glasses on, a really thin rectangular pair were perched atop her nose while another pair, slightly wider, atop her head, peaked out from her messy hair. Her brown hair was in rampant disarray, pulled back into a messy bun secured with writing implements; several strands had come loose and stood out at random angles. There was a large pot of tea and a mug handy at her elbow and her young features reflected strain and insomnia.
She pulled off the reading glasses and bumped down the other pair to squint through at her visitors. "Oh, it's you Miti, I saw blue hair- good to know I'm not completely blind yet. Haha. Wh4t br!ng5 joo 2 my l4!r?"(Translation: What brings you to my humble abode?) "Just checking up on you Nic. How's work?" "Which one? Lol 73h \/4ul7or l00l< !/\/ 5\V337 4/\/l> 4/\/93l l-l4[l< !/\/9 p4j5 900l> [45l-l. 53[ur!7j !5 r0xor 45 \V3ll 50 /\/0 5w347."(Which one? Ha, Spirit World's vault is excellently secured and my side business as an angel hacker is paying very well. Otherwise our security is perfect, so you needn't fear.)
"Well if everything's in order you can take a break from your computers then," you grinned. "\Vl-l47? J00 /\/\u57 83 5/V\0l< !/V 50/V\3 57r0/V9 5l-l!7 5!573r, ! Give those poor eyes of yours a rest and use your legs for once!" You walked across the room, carefully avoiding the wires as Nikki strove to find a means by which to remain connected to her computers. You picked up the other girl and tossed her over a shoulder while Lily shook her head from the doorway. "/V0! /V\j [0r3! /V\j 5337 [0r3! l>4/V\/V!7 \V0/V\4/V, pu7 /\/\3 l>0\V/V!"(No! My core! My precious core! For the love of God woman put me down!) But you paid no attention to her frantic calls as she strained towards the bank of monitors and keyboards. "Come on Nikki, tell you what, I'll let you play videogames with Lily if you teach her."
"Teach h3r?" The surprise knocked most of the leet out of her speech. "Yeah, she's a witch in training, and you're a decent witch when you can pay attention to spells for more than a minute." "Hmm," she steepled her fingers and looked at the blonde. "D15 l< !D F33Lz L337. 5H3 [0l_lLD r0x0r 45 /\/\j 57l_lD3/\/7." (I can feel this girl's strong spirit power. She could go far as my student.) Then Lily did something that completely surprised you, she said: "J00 [4/\/ [0l_l/\/7 0/\/ /\/\3 L337 Ql_l33/\/! 3y3 \/\/!ll r0x0r!" (You can count on me teacher! I will do my best and succeed!)
"Lily-chan, you speak l33t too?" "You know it Miti! How can I get my videogame geek on and not?" "Damn Miti, why didn't you tell me you had such cool people upstairs earlier? I woulda come up." Nikki asked as you set her down outside the elevator. "Can you stand? You know you wouldn't have come, I have to drag you out every time I want you to meet anybody!" She grinned and wobbled a bit, as the blood rushed back down to her feet. "I like meeting people, why just the other day I was talking to this guy online, he's really nice." The hair along the back of your neck rose up as you let out a hiss. "Nikki! Don't go meeting strange men online, that's an order! Never know who's out there." She laughed and punched you in the arm, something you barely felt. "You don't have to baby-sit me Miti, I'm twenty-two you know. Now let's take Lily here up to the third training arena and blow some stuff up!" "You and the explosions! You're almost as bad as me," you muttered as the elevator opened and you all stepped inside.

weird people abound in Spirit World.....
but that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red
After you had taken them up and left Nic to the teaching, you walked down to caf and looked around for your table. You ordered a coffee and sat back thinking, scheming more like, daydreaming about ways to return to the human world. You missed the sun so much, you couldn't understand how Nikki could go so long down in the vault and just thinking about it made you even more depressed. [I really must be getting old,] you thought as you swallowed the coffee black and looked around the room. [I've gotten so mopey, and I haven't even had a secret boyfriend in months. Maybe this tournament in three weeks will be enough of a break to cheer me up, even if it's in the demon world.] You sunk back into thought.
"MITI!" You jerked around at the shrill cry as Lily came crashing into you. "Look what I can do!" She brandished her staff and stared at the far end. "Particles of darkness- scythe!" A black mist swirled around her and then formed a pitch black blade on the end of her staff, which was now a deadly scythe. "Isnt that awesome? I will 5mit3 major n00b 455!" [You're going to be the most 'noob' one there.] But you didn't voice your thoughts instead you glanced at Nic, who was standing behind her as you said "Very nice, but you're panting. You shouldn't over exert yourself; you're not used to using your energy yet." "I tried to tell her that like five times," the witch sighed as she dropped into a chair. "Let's go show the boys!" "Have fun, we old people will be here waiting." She grimaced at you, but ran off. People threw themselves out of her way as she flew by with her scythe blade hanging out. "She'll take someone's head off!" "Probably, let's hope it's one of the detectives." "You don't really mean that," Nikki said slowly. "J00 5\/\/347 7l_l47 1 d00d." (You have some affection for one of them.) "That's a lie!" you yelled as you felt yourself going slightly red in the face. A few people glanced over and you moderated your voice. "I can't stand to be around them! You know that Nic, the mere thought-" you shuddered. "I have no affection for Spirit Detectives, and no special tolerance for any one of them." She smiled like she didn't believe a word of it and lifted the cup out of your hand. "It's too early in the day for that my friend. How bout instead you put your money where your mouth is and we see who's better in Halo." "A challenge? I don't think I can refuse. To the game consoles! (And it was only coffeeyou don't have to jump to conclusions.)" She snorted as you both got up. "I can't remember the last time I've see you drinking coffee. Should I be worried?"
You went up to the living room and were blasting away when Lily came in. "Guys! They weren't impressed; they told me it was stupid!" "They're just jealous," you said as you took potshots at Nikki. "Y34l-l, j00 \/\/!ll r0x0r 7l-l3!r n00b 455z." (I agree, you will completely decimate them.) "Hmph, I hope you're right. I don't like the snide little comments Hiei's always making and the way Yusuke just keeps shaking his head and groaning. I need to show them I can kick ass!" "You do that hon, but right after I kill this sucker." "'This sucker' is me! And you're the one going down!" Nic yelled. And indeed the next thing you knew she was dancing around and your man was dead.
"Lily!" You all turned at the shout to see Kuwabara walking down the hall, his hands cupped around his mouth as he shouted. Your cat ears folded back against your head at the grating sound. "Lily-chan!" "I thought I told you not to call me 'little'!" the girl shouted back. "There you are! We were looking all over." "'We' my ass," she muttered as she turned away and plopped down on the couch. "Mitsuko, can I come in?" the annoying human said as he stepped into the room. You gave a resigned shrug and settled back in front of the TV. "Look, Hiei didn't mean it. It's a really cool trick you learned, we just thought it might not be-uh-uh- what was it, 'good'?" "Pr4[t![4l?" Nic offered. "But it is practical!" Lily jumped up. "Look! Particles of Darkness- sai!"
"Should we be letting her waste so much energy?" you asked as you blew up a monster. "Turn right here and shoot up. J00 90774 l37 d4 cl-l!x0r /\/\4X 0l_l7 d4 P0\/\/3r." (You must let the girl reach her limits if she is to understand them.) "Woow," Kuwabara's word was one immensely drawn out syllable. "Can you make anything like that?" "Almost look- particles of darkness- cage!" The pitch black bars came down right in front of your view and you leaned to the side to see. "This is where knowledge of waves, particles, and magic comes in handy," you commented as you waved your hand and murmured "disperse." The cage disappeared and the kids stared.

crying's not for me
"You didn't even break a sweat!" Nikki exclaimed, pressing a hand to your forehead. "I took my medicine earlier so I'm feeling half-alive." "Ah, I thought your mood was strange, welcoe to the world of the living." "Miti! Why are you so much better than me?" Lily exclaimed as she dropped onto the couch behind you. "Simply that, I'm better. Keep in mind Lily-chan, I am 'a' class while you are about 'd' class right now. You haven't developed your energy at all yet. But if you follow Nic's instructions you'll shoot up." "She's 'd' class?" You glanced back and frowned as more people came into your private room. "Take five big steps backwards detective. And yes, that's about right." Yusuke took five steps back and found himself just outside the threshold. "Hey! Why am I out here?" "It's where spirit detectives belong." "D00d, \/\/l-l3r3z D4 Ll_lV?" (Don't be a bitch.) "Ah! Stop ganging up on me!" you exclaimed, throwing your hands up as you stood. "It's too claustrophobic in here." You pushed your way out of the room and sprinted up the stairs to the next floor. You breathed a sigh of relief when you saw the empty hall. There was too much going on, too many people in your space and you needed alone time.
I'll never stop the rain by complaining/ but i know, the tears they send to greet me/ won't defeat me/ it won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me
