I surveyed myself in the small sliver of mirror that was available in the washroom at school before the bell rang for lunch, the majority of it being crowded and fought over by girls mindlessly applying and re-applying the same pink lipgloss. It had only been about a week of living on coffee and muffins, but I had gotten significantly skinnier. My skin was starting to stretch across my stomach, my shoudlers and my hipbones, which were getting pokier and pokier by the day. And everything showed now, all of the bruises had gone black and purple, and even more had appeared. My burn had gone bright red and blistery, it was so disgusting. And it hurt to even blink, let alone move. The bell rang and I sighed, because contrary to popular belief the starving look wasn't all that attractive, then left the washroom. It was pretty easy to get out of the washroom then, because the bathrooms are so crowded during classes, like they had been thirty seconds ago, and then as soon as the bell rings no one's there. Someone tapped me on the back, and I spun around to see the guys standing behind me. Well, after I regained my vision from the huge headrush that swept over me.

"Hey!" said Synyster. I grinned.

"Hi." I answered as we started to walk towards the cafeteria. "Wait, don't only Synyster and I have this lunch period?" Zacky shrugged.

"We skipped." said Matt, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"Why didn't I guess that?" I asked. We grinned. The guys started buying stuff, and in my head I was silently praying, though I believe that it wasn't heard it was the first thing that popped into my head, that no one would notice that I wasn't buying anything and that I wasn't eating anything.

"Aren't you going to buy something?" asked Zacky. More proof that it wasn't heard by anyone.

"Er, no, I forgot my money today." I said.

~Synyster's POV~

"Er, no, I forgot my money today." she said quickly. I put a baguel and some hot chocolate in her hands and she looked at me questioningly as we moved out of the caf line and I payed for her. I shrugged.

"Couldn't have you going all anorexic on us!" All of the guys started going off about how she was so skinny.

"You guys are so full of it! I am not anorexic! But thank you for the lunch Syn." she said.

"He gave you food, you need to give him a hug now." said Rev. The guys and I grinned, he was the best at getting girls to do stuff, even if it was only a hug. Naiya smiled as well, but it wasn't her usual confident grin, she seemed shy, almost timid, all of a sudden. She wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me close for a second. I put my arms around her waist.

"Thank you Synyster!" she said. I grinned again.

"No problem." It seemed nasty and pervy of me, but when I hugged her I noticed that she was actually very skinny, and found myself glancing at her from time to time and racking my brain for a memory of her from a couple of weeks ago. Was it only me, or was she getting skinnier? And what was up with last night? That one had kept me up almost all night last night, trying to find every possible answer, and going over and over them. But the only logical one remained, that she was homeless. But she can't be, because of that house, and she, told me that she went in the back way. I only saw her go into the backyard. Which means that she could have been lying. She could have been lying the whole time.

"Syn? Earth to Synyster, are you even awake?" asked Naiya, and looking into her innocent green eyes I felt any small sense of betrayal that had been there merely moments before dissolve instantly. I shook my head.

"Yeah, sorry. What?"

"Er, we we've been asking you for at least a minute whether or not Naiya should try and fight those girls." said Matt.

"She says no, but we think she should." added Johnny.

"Nope." I said.

"Dude, chick fight..." said Rev. I shrugged.

"Nope. Don't do it, there are more of them and they have no limits and you're still hurt."

"Thank you Synyster! Jeez, someone who's thinking about me instead of focusing on some perverted fantasy of a "catfight" between six or seven girls that have no respect for themselves or others."

"That was hot." said Rev. I so wasn't thinking the same thing. It was just, when she got upset or when she really believed in what she was saying, I dunno... There really isn't an explanation for what I feel about Naiya, sure she's very attractive, but she seems somewhat like a little sister in a friendly sort of way. Like I need to protect her from something. Like those girls... Or The Reverend... She smacked him upside the head. Or maybe she was doing a pretty good job of protecting herself from The Reverend already.

"Did you even hear to what I was saying?"

"So was that." said Matt. She smacked Matt upside the head this time, and then Zacky.

"Ow!" he whined. "I didn't do anything!"

"Yet." said Naiya.

"Yet. I didn't do anything yet!"

"Well seeing as I was already hitting Matt I decided to save myself the time and energy of hitting you that I would have used had I hit you when you actually said something."

"You know, you keep doing that and we're going to keep saying that it was hot. So just stop if you don't want us to say it." said Johnny.

"Don't say it if you want me to stop hitting you."

"This is what happens when you let a smart one in." I muttered, but loud enough so that she could hear me.

"Not going to tell you off." she said.

"Don't deny that you're smart. You started out doing only one twelfth grade course, which is good on it's own, and now you're doing math, and science, and French, and English, and socials, and German. And you're one test away from twelfth grade computers."

"Not going to, not going to, not going to!"

"And you're hot." said Rev.

"There's the bell, have a nice day guys!" she said. She got up as quickly as she could, which took a considerable amount of time seeing as she was obviously VERY sore from yesterday. I got up and walked the short ten feet that she had made so far. I sighed.

"God you're hopeless."

"This is not my fault!" she exclaimed.

"Well if you had just made a little more effort to fit in then-" my sentence was stopped abruptly by a swift punch in the arm. And it wasn't a girly punch. Maybe she was doing a pretty good job of defending herself against those girls too. "I was kidding!"

"So that's what, like, every guy in one lunch hour?" We laughed.

"Okay, hop on." I said, slightly crouching down.

"No! I can do this!"

"You're so damn independant!"

"There is nothing wrong with that!"

"And stubborn!"

"Yet you put up with me."

"Don't make me question why I do!"

"Ha! You are actually smart! You just don't let on." she exclaimed. I shrugged and grinned.

"I have my moments. Now let me give you a piggy-back ride to the school before I carry you there bridal style."

"I have no choice." she stated.

"Right."

"Or you'll pick me up and carry me all the way there."

"Yep."

"Alright!" she said. With some difficulty she finally managed to get onto my back and I carried her to school.

"Want me to walk you to computers?" She sighed.

"If you insist!" Of course her first response was going to be sarcastic.

"I do!"

"Sure." This was her not-so-sarcastic response. We got to the staircase and I started walking up it, only to stop on the fifth stair and notice that she was still at the first, looking up in painful anticipation and trying hard to get herself up the next step. I walked back down.

"Having some troubles?"

"One might not go as far as troubles." We looked at each other. "Okay, yeah, I sort of can't even lift my legs that high right now."

"Thought so. Up we go." I said. And before she could protest, before she even knew what was happening, I picked her up bridal style and walked us up the crowded stairs. She giggled self-consciously, which seemed highly unlike her, as everyone stared at us, but I just smiled at them sarcastically. Finally I set her down next to the door of her class, just as the bell rang.

"Thank you Synyster!" said Naiya. She wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me close. "For the transportation and the lunch." I grinned.

"Don't go puke it all up now!" Naiya grinned as well and jokingly put her finger in her mouth. "Later!" I said as the bell rang.

"'Bye!" I turned around and walked to my next class, smiling, that was two hugs, in one lunch period.
