Your body is restless during the evening, making it practically unable for you to fall asleep.
Almost a week has passed since you received your father's letter, but you haven't spoken a word to Oliver about it. Perhaps because of nervousness, or fear, you're not sure. Oliver didn't ask about it, nor did he talk about Katie or her father, so you assumed everything was alright.
Still the whole situation keeps floating in your head. Your father didn't write such a serious letter for nothing, the Ministry of Magic Scandal is probably at it's highest already, but invisible to the outside. You turn around and lie on your left side, staring into the darkness of the Girls Dormitory. You hear some faint breathing, probably Lavender. You pull the warm sheets over you and snuggle into the comfortable pillow, but still it won't make you sleepy.
Oliver's sweet kisses made you temporarily forget about Katie, or the scandal, but afterwards, when you were lying in your bed, you would remember it all. Ofcourse you considered telling Oliver about the letter, but what difference would it make? You absolutely refuse to eliminate all contact with him, like your father recommended, and you're positive Oliver feels the same.
You didn't spend all those months craving for him to destroy your dream so easily. Katie has to try better to achieve anything. You turn around again, facing the ceiling this time.
Being with Oliver is something you've always dreamed of. Not Oliver in particular, but being with someone in general. Although you were independent and free, you still wanted to know what it would be like, to have someone. Someone who would care for you in another way than your parents would care for you, and someone you could do nice things with, like walking in the park or just watching a film with. Someone who would kiss you goodnight after taking you home, and someone who could arouse you by just touching your hand. Oliver was someone who did all that, who was such a person. You notice you have a small smile on your face, and it makes you even more happy. No person or deed can ever stop the special bond that you and Oliver share. No Katie, no Sir Bell, no Ministry of Magic and not even your own father. You turn to your right once more before you finally fall sound asleep.
It's early in the morning when you're chatting with Lavender in the Girls Dormitory. You're ordening your clothes, neatly folding them into place. "Evan, if you're not going to do anything, I'll do it for sure." You smile and shake your head. "No no, I haven't decided anything yet. I'm not sure what to do, but I haven't refused or agreed on anything." Lavender sighs deeply and sits on your bed, staring at the clothes you've just fold. "You do need to say something soon, they can't keep it free forever you know." You put down the last cloth before you sit down next to Lavender. "I know, I know. But it's a very hard decision. I mean, school is busy and difficult enough already, I'm not sure I can handle another extra thing. Plus, Oliver is my boyfriend which would make it quite hard as well."
"Ofcourse not silly. It would come in handy, he'd be easy on you. Come on, this is something almost every Hogwarts student dreams of! I definitely think you should go for it."
You look at Lavender and give her an insecure smile. You still haven't given Oliver an answer to his proposal, which ofcourse is quite rude. He on the other hand, still hasn't asked for an answer, making it even harder for you to decide. You're not sure youd be good as a Chaser, or even as a Quidditch teammate, but you do know you want to give it a try. Besides, it would be a good lesson for Katie, who has been storming through the halls like a mad pony the last couple of days. "Alright, why not? I'll give it a try. I'll probably look incredibly foolish, but who cares!" Lavender throws her arms in the air and lets out some sort of celebration yell, and you smile. With one quick wand gesture your clothes fly to your closet and you dust off your own robe.
"I'm going downstairs, to do some homework. Maybe Oliver's there too. See ya!" You walk out of the Girls Dormitory and don't hear Lavender's mumbling. "Homework, yeah right. Like anyone's capable of doing homework with Wood around."
You walk downstairs and see some Gryffindor students, including your sister. Ava's sitting at the wooden table, discussing something with Seamus. Or at least a young boy who looks like Seamus.
You smile, already hearing Ava's loud voice. "No, that's not true. Intensio Magnifica is performed by standing on one leg and putting the wand on top of your head!" The boy lets out an annoyed sigh and crosses his arms. "Absolutely not. Everyone who knows a little about magic should know that Intension Magnifica is performed only by chanting 'Humba humba' fifty times while jumping up and down at the same time!" You walk to the arguing couple and are amused by their attents to sound intelligent. "Children, anyone who simply reads the BOOKS should know that Intensio Magnifica is performed simply by waving the wand and pronouncing the spell itself." Ava looks up quickly after which she looks angry, Seamus turn red quite quickly.
"Ofcourse, thatss what I meant. The performance I was talking about is simply just an introduction for the spell itself, or, like some people say, it's-"
"Seamus, shut your mouth, will you? You both have no idea what you're talking about, and I suggest you two leave those wands alone until your words start to make some more sense. Now, Ava, can I talk to you for a minute?" Seamus mumbles something but turns even redder, and leaves the Common Room quickly, followed by Dean Thomas. Ava puts down her pen and stares at the wall. You sit down next to her, your face is lit up by an amusing smile.
"Thanks a lot Evan, really. You've just ruined the perfect moment. I was just getting to know Seamus better and then you come bashing in. Thank you ever so much."
You gasp and blink. "I didn't know telling false spells was a way of creating the perfect moment Ava. But I'm deeply sorry and promise I'll make it up to you. I just wanted to know how you were doing. And do please tell me everything about you and Seamus." Ava looks at you from the corner of her eye and then looks thoughtful. "Alright, I'll tell you, but you have to promise me that at the next Hogsmeade trip, you'll bring me two bags of Chocolate Frogs."
You raise your hand and look serious. "I promise." Ava smiles and then starts playing with her pen. "Well, I've found out Seamus isn't such a bad lad. He's quite intelligent and can be a gentleman when he needs to. He helped me with Defense against the Dark Arts and I highly apreciated that. So, I guess we can be good friends. I might even go to the Christmas Feast with him, but I have to think about that one first though." You can't help but laugh at Ava's incredible seriousness. She's so much like your father, full of rules and gentleness. "Alright, that's a good start. By the way, have you seen Oliver around?" Ava smirks but shakes her head. "No, I'm afraid not. But I'm sure he'll appear soon, you two don't seem to be apart too long every day."
You blush a little, but smile. "Hmm, I'll keep an eye on you and Seamus from now on. Then we'll see who's talking." Ava laughs and you get up, not really knowing what to do. Suddenly Lucas, Harry and Ron walk into the room, talking loud and joking. Ron happily waves at you, but Harry seems to be sucked up into his own thoughts. Although you know him a little, you still think he's a strange boy. Ofcourse, anyone with such a history would be a little strange, but somehow you feel sorry for him. He always seems to be in the middle of everything, but you get the feeling that all he wants to be is a normal boy. Poor lad, he even has You Know Who chasing after him.
"Hey Evan", you suddenly hear your brother say. He's holding a small envelope while walking towards you. "Wood was outside training. He asked me to give this to you. Later!" Lucas hands you the envelope and quickly dissapears with his friends to the Boys Dormitory.
The envelope is small, but you recognize Oliver's handwriting. You smile and your heart fills with excitement. What would he want to tell you? You settle down in a dimmed corner and soon the noise of the Common Room starts to dissapear around you. You open the letter and start to read, after which a big smile emmerges from your face..
