{Read the memo plz.} Tears welled up in your eyes as you clutched Kikukos amulet to your chest. Involuntarily, the events of your entire life replayed in your mind.
huh?
ok
Fall down the well already! (me: did you read the memo?)
there was no question therefore I dont know how to answer
You had lived for as long as you could remember under the wing of a woman named Kikuko. As you were told, you father had been a young samurai who had taken care of you as a baby. You had heard that he had died in a battle roughly 10 years ago against an evil force called the "Shichinintai". You knew nothing of the actual circumstances; really all you were familiar with in this case was the name. You could barely remember your fathers face, touched with kindness, although unforgiving, as it was said. But you weren't sure whether your memories were your own, or merely an invalid fake fascined there by your desire to find a visual relation to Kikuko's stories. Kikuko treasured her stories, and every nite of your youth was concluded with a story of some member of your family, which seemed to have countless heroes and heroines. The only member of your family that you knew nothing of was your mother. You has known all of your life that you had some sort of relation to Kikuko, but she was as good as your mother to you. Kikuko's duty was that of a mage. Naturally, you were being trained as her apprentice in the field of magic. Earlier in the week, you had summoned enough power to bring sparks to a stack of decayed hay, use the force to wind to spread its domain, condensed the vapor in the air to extinguish the fire, and crack the dry earth, letting the remnants slip underground. These four elements were your expertise. You had been so proud of yourself for using all of them so well. You didnt blow up anything or cause an earthquake. Although you told yourself that you were doing well in avoiding something like that, deep down you knew that you probably werent powerful enough to do so if you tried. Not at that point at least. Now was different.
How so?
ooooo I get it! It takes place in the feudal era! (me: seriously, read the memo)
Go on
By some horrible twist of fate, your village had been chosen to be obliterated. It was done by a pack of white wolves, which was lead by a single man dressed in white fur. A demon no doubt. He had cascading dusty gray hair, a stern and wrinkled face, and sacred jewel shards somewhere in his possession. Although you didnt have the ability to see where they were or how many he had, you could feel its evil aura radiating from his body. There was no mistaking the jewels presence, and you could tell that it was greatly soiled. The wolves had feasted on everyone in the village, sparing not a man, woman, or child. Kikuko was very strong, and had she not carried the burden of twenty-odd years past her prime, she might have been able to fight off the intruders. She probably could have escaped with her life, but she felt as if it were her duty to fight along side of the men of the village, who perished as well. You had summoned everything you had in you to fight to try to aid them, but it alone wasn't much. You had used the element of fire to help you. Remembering this detail, the tears in your eyes started to burn. They slid down your cheeks leaving behind an icy silver trail. You made no attempt to brush them away. ~Kikuko is dead~. The words echoed in your mind. She had died protecting you. ~Kikuko is dead~ Again you told yourself this. Dead was the only person you had ever felt close to. ~Shes dead~ Right before she had passed on, she had taken her midnightviolet-colored amulet off her neck and placed it in your hand. She had then uttered her last words: *It is yours now. Use its power with wisdom and courage.* Then she had closed her eyes. You tucked the treasure away in the inner pocket of your kimono. You didnt know very much about the amulet, other than it held great power as well as beauty. Kikuko had never taken it off, implying that it held great value or sentimentality. Kikuko had treasured it, but now.*Shes dead* you whispered.
Awww
Kikuko is a funny nameits like....noises
Go on
You kept reminding yourself that only this morning, everything had been fine. But now, for some unknown reason, your village had been attacked and now everyone was dead. You let out a sob that was aching to escape. You were sitting on the dirt floor, in the center of a ring of glowing embers. Your face was buried in your knees and you hugged your shins. Your eyes were squeezed shut. You huddled further into yourself as you shivered in the unnatural cold autumn breeze. The sun, warming into your dark hair, (yes, I decided that your hair is dark now) suddenly cooled as you felt a shadow come over you. You lifted your head just enough to see a tall man dressed in mostly white standing about four feet in front of you, his silver hair twisting in the breeze.
YAY! I know who that is!
