Oh! Cercion is pronounced Sir-See-On. Sirseeon. Get it? o.O? I've just gotten a few questions around his name :P
Months passed. Months where you lived with Drake in his apartment. You had let go of your hatred, but you hadn't forgotten a single thing, your ghosts would forever lurk in your mind, reminding you why you once hated Drake and Cercion. Cercion however, you never turned your back against. You couldn't trust him fully. You couldn't trust any of them fully, but Cercion was on a different level. His nature, his bad temper, the way he looked at you sometimes. You couldn't relax entirely. He often visited Drake's apartment, but Drake wasn't the reason. That they once sold you was something you couldn't forget, something you brought up a bunch of times. It seemed that they had grown to like you, to take care of you, they felt sorry for what they had done. Or at least, that was what they said. But words can consist of lies, words can be a form of weapon if you can't read the content in each word. The memories of that night when you killed a rapist was also something you always had on your mind. The way you felt when you broke his neck, the power you felt surging through you. The adrenalin. That feeling never returned. Cercion and Drake seemed frustrated because of it, you were useless. You had been useless throughout the months you had been there. They tried to make the episode repeat itself by sending you out at nights, letting some creature attack you. They threatened to not save you, that you should protect yourself. It didn't work at all. They ended up saving you, because you couldn't fight anyone off.
"Kaelyn? Wanna join us outside? We have wine," Drake leaned over you, throwing a shadow over the book you were reading. You turned over your shoulder, pushing the bottle he held away from your head.
"Outside? uh.. no thanks. I have my.. strange purple glowing soda," you said, pointing at the glass with the glowing liquid. You had grown to like all the glowing stuff. You just hoped it wouldn't have a bad effect. What if your eyes started glowing, or your skin? A disaster.
"All right. Have fun with your book then," Drake said boringly and left. You rolled your eyes.
"Nah, she didn't want to. She's still scared of heights.." Drake said, pretending you weren't there when he spoke to Cercion.
"I heard that!" you pointed your finger warningly, continuing reading the lines of page 178, blowing a bubble with the bright pink bubble gum in your mouth, which doubled the size each time you had chewed it ten times. Your words were barely recognizable now.
"This world is hopeless!" you exclaimed, running to spit the gum in the trash.
"Bleh.. My jaw hurts!"
"You'd think she'd be more mature by now.." Cercion said when you walked back to the couch, rubbing your cheeks with your hands. "I can't believe she had us go get books from her world. She must be some witch to have us do that!"
"Yeah yeah, whatever, bring out those glasses would ya?" Drake muttered, going out on the porch with the wine. Cercion closed the door when he left, shutting you inside unable to hear what they said. They seemed to discuss things a lot, often they made sure you weren't near or able to hear them. They were all about secrets and plans. They still had their 'business' going on, you didn't have a chance making them let go of that. As awful as it was, you had to try forget about it. You didn't want your foot inside their game, you were not going to help them. Maybe one day, you could stop them. It just wasn't the time. Death you had never seen again. He was like gone from the world, never spoken of. You didn't understand. Not yet.
You turned to the next page, then the next again, reading page by page until you finished the book. You didn't have much else to do. Always inside when it was dark, never allowed to walk outside, unless you were to be 'tested' to see if you could do something extraordinary again. Which you never could.
"Kaelyn, you're going out."
"No."
"Yes, you are."
"No! I'm not finished reading!" you opened the book hurriedly, gluing your eyes to the text.
"Well you are now," Cercion said angrily, tossing away your book.
"Drake!" you shouted, and soon Drake came inside.
"What?"
"Make Cercion leave, tell him he can't boss me around! Why is he always here?"
"Cercion, stop whatever that you.. did."
"I didn't do anything. She hasn't been out in a long time! She still can't do shit!"
"Yeah, I know," Drake shrugged.
"Hey!" you cut in, offended.
"You're going out," Drake said firmly, crossing his arms.
"No, I don't want to! Last time some guy almost cut my head off! I won't do it anymore!" you jumped out of the couch, only to meet Drake face to face.
"I won't!" you yelled at him, ignoring his angry face expression. You turned away from him, almost walking into Cercion, who's eyes looked like they were burning.
"Take her, or I will," he commanded, leaning his face a little bit closer to yours. You narrowed your eyes, glaring back at him.
"You're not scared enough, slut." He spoke calmly. You knew precisely why he called you things, why he constantly tried to scare you. He wanted you to react, react differently than a simple human would, which you didn't really do. All you did was throwing back a bunch of obscene words which didn't do much good. You never got scared, not really, just angry. Drake caught your hands and pulled them behind your back, telling you to be quiet when you wanted to cry.
"Drake!"
"No Kaelyn, Cercion's right."
"I hate you!"
"Yes, I love you too," Drake muttered, forcing you outside, pushing you against the railing. You almost lost your breath when you looked down. You shut your eyes at once, you'd faint if you didn't.
"Drake, don't you dare!" you screamed when you heard a swishing noise behind you. You were pulled around again, pulled into Drake's arms even though you struggled not to let him. It only took a couple of seconds before he had left the porch you stood on, you were now looking down at the buildings. You gasped, forcing yourself to close your eyes again.
"It won't take long until we're there," Drake assured you, but it didn't make you feel any better. You knew this night was going to suck. You wrapped your arms around his neck, keeping your eyes shut through the entire trip. Cercion, who was flying right beside Drake, tried to scare you all the time by saying stupid things like "Drake, watch out for that building!" You just took a second to show your middle finger. He only laughed at you. You wondered where they were taking you, because usually you only hung out around the streets near by the building Drake lived in. But now it looked like they were taking you far away from there. You started getting concerned, even lifting one of your eyelids to see where you were. You found yourself above a huge forest, the treetops weren't far below.
"What are we doing here?" you asked, trying to look down into the forest, but it was too dark, the branches were to thick and close. It was maybe half an hour until it would be completely dark outside. The sky was still pretty light, so you could see enough. But that wouldn't last much longer. Suddenly, Drake held you tighter and dived towards the woods, you shielded your head when you could feel branches around you. Once on the dry ground, he let you go. Cercion soon landed behind you, both of them retracted their feathery wings.
"This a nice spot?" Drake asked.
"Perfect. Twenty minutes or so, it will be pretty dark around here. There should be some in here.." Cercion replied, looking around the place.
"Yeah. Bye Kaelyn." Drake smiled and turned his back toward you, then walked away.
"Wait! you're not leaving me here?!" You tried running after him, but all of a sudden he was way ahead.
Damn powers!
"Cercion!" you turned toward him again, blocking his way.
"You can't do this! Don't leave me alone here.."
He smirked at you, probably enjoying the whole situation he and Drake had put you in.
"Sorry girl. You're on your own. If you scream loud enough, then maybe, maybe, I'll come. Have fun, don't let them hurt you too badly.." Then he walked past you.
"Wh.. w.. What?"
Cercion is REALLY getting on my nerves >.<
AAAAAAAAAAAH! No more pain!
*whimpers* I HATE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scary forest >.>
They rock ;) Bring it oooooooon!
"Damn it.." you stopped, supporting yourself against a tree, removing one of your shoes to let some small pebbles fall out of it. Your head jerked up when you heard some twigs break. Your eyes skimmed across the trees, only the nearest were visible. The rest were in the dark. Too bad you didn't have some sort of super vision. Who knew what was hiding in there? You were soon to find out.. Sighing loudly you walked through the forest, maybe you could find the end of it. The forest creeped you out, the sounds, the thickening mist which was almost glowing as a result of the thin moon rays. "Drake? Cercion? Stop playing around.." you said when a loud sound of twigs breaking interrupted the silence of the forest. You looked over your shoulder within a second, you felt something touching the back of your neck. Whatever it was, it was gone now This isn't happening.. You had to be paranoid. If your skin wasn't 'goose-bumpy' all ready, it was now. With shifty eyes you strolled over the forest floor, through the mist, carefully avoiding rocks and branches you could trip over. After an hour of walking you leaned your back against a tree, breathing heavily. You were sick of their game. You heaved a deep sigh, knocking your head gently against the tree trunk. You decided to stand there until Drake and Cercion would turn up. "Come out, come out, wherever you are. Damn idiots. Can't you just.. show yourselves? It's annoying!" you spoke to the mist, surely Drake and Cercion had to be in there somewhere. "Ah hah! I knew it.." You saw silhouettes of two shadows, getting clearer by each moment. "Wait.." Another silhouette turned up, a third person was there. You pushed yourself away from the tree, straightening up after resting against it. Clearly something was wrong. When you saw them more clearly, they were definitely not Drake or Cercion. Three pale men dressed in dark gothic-looking clothes walked peacefully slowly toward you. All of them smirked when you stumbled back, straight into the tree. With unsteady hands you helped yourself around the tree, only to stop again when you saw two more men coming your way. Your heart practically jumped to your throat when you felt long fingers on your shoulders. "You called for us, I believe?" A voice spoke darkly behind you, his hands leaving your shoulders then down your arms. You whipped around, your hair flared behind you. "I didn't call for you," you spoke quickly, moving your hand away when the young pale man reached for it. "Oh, I believe you did.." another man said, you felt his chest press against your back. "Come out, come out, wherever you are.. Well we are here now.." The third whispered into your ear, brushing your hair away from your neck. You were surrounded by them. "She looks like a nice little.. snack, don't you think?" You automatically lifted your hand to your neck when they stared, licking their lips tauntingly. Your pulse raced, you could feel it with your hand. "Your heart beat is out of control.. you can't think straight.." You were guided backwards until you hit the tree, you were held against it with bruising force. All five of them moved in on you, trapping you between them and the tree. Their hands wondered down your body, lifting your clothes, only to touch your warm skin with fresh blood underneath. You gave a push, a weak try to get them away, but you were rewarded with a sharp nail sinking into your palm. The one who did it lifted your hand up to his lips and he licked the blood which came to the surface. "Sweet.." he murmured, tracing his tongue over his lips, savoring the taste of your blood. They moved closer to you, they all smiled of the fright in your eyes, you couldn't hide how scared you were. Someone brushed away your hair again, your neck naked for them to feed from. The zipper of your sweatshirt was pulled partly down, revealing your dark red bra, you couldn't stop shivering when lips began dropping onto your skin, five guys trying to find a nice spot. "This wasn't what we agreed on.." They all stopped what they were doing to turn their fiery eyes on Drake and Cercion. "Agreed on? Ouch!" you yelped when a nail pressed into your palm again, twisting around. "We don't follow orders, you should know that. We just want a little taste of the gift you so willingly brought to us. We can't say no to such a young girl. Her blood is exquisite. We don't play games, Drake." the guy who was hurting you spoke soothingly. Their nature were so calm you could fall asleep just by listening to their voices. You shook your head, they were like a drug. Even their dark deep eyes made you lose focus. You gasped when he cut you deeper, he gave a short laugh and turned to you, lowering his head toward your neck, twisting his nail deeper until you arched in pain. "Drake, no!" You heard Cercion shout, then all you could see was a bright green light, you had to squint your eyes. Loud painful roars surrounded you, the bright light settled, and you could see the vampires' skin burning until there was only skeletons left. The skeletons slowly dissolved, as if someone had poured acid over them. You stared at the empty ground for several seconds, in shock, before you lifted your head to look at Drake and Cercion. Cercion looked worried, Drake looked as if he was about to die. "What.." you started, but stopped when Drake fell on his knees, his face had a painful expression. All of a sudden you saw his shirt tear open on his back in five places, as if he had been hit with a whip. You saw no damage on his skin, but he was in very much pain, writhing on the forest floor, trembling insanely. You ran over to him, but Cercion caught your arm and pulled you behind his back. "Don't, he can't even sense you.." he said quietly, looking down at the Death Angel in pain. "He knew this would happen.." You leaned your head against Cercion's shoulder, closing your eyes. Just the sounds you heard was bad enough, describing the pain Drake went through. "Is he gonna be okay?" you sobbed, your cheeks wet with tears. "He'll be okay.." Minutes passed slowly, you were pacing back and forth, waiting. The pain subsided finally and he went quiet, breathing heavily on the ground, his skin shining with sweat. "Drake?" Cercion asked, pushing him gently with his foot. Drake rolled over onto his back, opening his eyes wide. "Man, I hate this.." "You had it coming," Cercion smiled giving him a helping hand. You walked over to him, not bothering to hide your concerned face when he looked at you. "I'm fine!" he waved his hand, as if it wasn't a big deal. "What the hell was that all about?" you asked, lifting some loose pieces of his shirt. "Uh.. I didn't follow the rules. I killed vampires, which means punishment. The bad kind. And five vampires means a hell lot of pain. Some species we have to leave alone, but I just.. couldn't." He reached for your hand, holding it with your palm up. It was a mess. "We shouldn't have done this, Cercion. Vampires suck. Literally. I'm never gonna make plans involving them ever again!" "Why did you make plans with them? Haven't you noticed? I can be scared to death, but it won't help me do what I once did! Maybe I'm not what you want me to be, I'm not whoever Death wants. Quit trying to force me into using powers I do not possess. It's not working, don't you see?" Drake and Cercion didn't say anything, they just exchanged glances. "So, should we get going? Unless you want to.. camp?" Cercion said, breaking the silence. "Let's leave," Drake agreed, guiding you to him by pulling your hand he was still holding. You saw his wings unfolding behind him, and he winced a little. "I.. can't. Cercion?" Drake let go of you and motioned toward Cercion. You walked over to him, even though he probably had the nerve to do something stupid. Like dropping you from the sky. He didn't though, you landed perfectly safe on the porch of Drake's apartment. They helped you with your hurt hand, wrapping gauze or something similar around your hand so it could heal in peace until the next day.You went straight to Drake's bedroom, occupying his bed for the night, like you had done every single night since you started living there. Drake slept on the couch. Drake and Cercion had one more thing to discuss before thinking of sleeping. "I told you." "I know what you're gonna say. I did think about it too, but then I simply thought about what was natural. I thought fright was the clue, that fright was her trigger. Anger makes sense of course, but I just can't see it in her." Drake said, leaning on the railing, looking over the city. "I know. Anger is most emotional. It takes a lot of strength to keep it under control. Kaelyn just doesn't.. seem.. fit to it, you know? Fright would be easier for her, you've seen it in her eyes?" Cercion asked, sipping some more wine. "Mhm. But she's had her little outbursts too. She just hasn't let her anger.. loose. We have to work on that. And I have an idea too," Drake smirked, emptying his wine glass by pouring it out of the glass. Drake told Cercion about the idea, they both agreed it would do wonders. You awoke the next day from the sound of hysteria outside the bedroom. You rubbed your eyes and pulled on a night dress before you climbed out of the huge bed, stumbling across the floor. You stood in the door frame, looking at Drake who ran around in a suit, fixing his tie "What.. what on earth are you doing?" you yawned, stretching your arms into the air. "I have to go somewhere. Uh.. business meeting, very important. I'll be back in two or three days." "Oh. Umm.. I'll.. watch your apartment then," you shrugged, leaning against the door frame, yawning once again. Drake stopped walking, giving you a dumbfounded look. "What?" "Oh, you're not staying here." "Huh? Then what--" Mr. Drake, your guest Cercion has arrived. He'll be up shortly. Your jaw dropped. "Drake! No way!" Thanks for reading ^^ |
