There is a Reason Why Damaged People can Survive

Damaged people are dangerous because they know they can survive. -Not afraid of the dark, I'm afraid of what's in it -Not afraid to love, I'm afraid of not being loved back this poem is about just hanging in there a little bit longer to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This is an anti-suicide poem, and I wrote it because I promised my friend everything would be ok and the next day she killed herself.

Standing up so tall

Working hard to strive

Damaged people are dangerous

Because they know they can survive

Depression's grasp hurts

Trust me I do know,

But when it tries to take you

No matter what, just don't go

A chemical imbalance?

Or maybe a troubled past?

There's no way around the cuts

Wether or not they heal fast

People try to lable you

Into some stupid category

Even though they do not know

There is no same emo story

Your cutting because you care

You think it's all your fault

Just wearing long sleeves

Hoping that you won't get caught

You become so numb,

You don't care about the pain

Sick of this same old tragic life

Everyone playing it like a game

But maybe there's a reason

That the blood always heals

I know you just need closure

Just afraid of what is real

And maybe theres a reason

You pull the gun away from your head

You just need that little comfort

Of having the choice to be dead

You just keep screaming and screaming

Cracking through your voice

But the shouts go unheard

And nobody cares that you didn't make this choice

You sit in the cornner

Sobing your heart out all alone

You search and search

But you can't find a real home

Just remember those reasons

Of why your still here

Why the erge to kill yourself

Starts to disappear

There is a reason why,

Damaged people are still here

They have finally managed

To make living more clear
