When You Were Here

This poem is a very personal and special poem to me. This is about my grandmother who died when I was 10 and who I loved very much R.I.P. This summer actually, I went to visit my grandfather and the place I last saw her before she passed. Being sensitive and all, I was upset just seeing the place after all the years so I wrote this poem at that moment. I wrote it in about 10 minutes and it was at a point where I was really upset. It doesn't exactly rhyme and it's messy but it's from the heart

When You Were Here

I had so much left to say
I wish I could've said i'm sorry
But your already gone
And I can't find a way
to move along

I remember
the light behind your eyes
Makes me want to cry
Those last moments
wish I could hold it--forever
The skies were so clear
I remember
When you were here

It's been 9 years
so long since i've been here
To this place
And everything I see
only reminds me of your face

What I wouldn't give
to have you by my side
The memories
I relive them over again
inside my mind

Wishing I could go back to the past
Turn back the hands of time
And those days with you
I'd make them last

All my worries just disappeared
When you were here

When I walked through that door
I wasn't prepared
for what's in store
Memories just flooded my mind
and take me back in time
Things I never knew
Only brings me back to you

When i'm long gone
I know i'll see you again
together at last
An eternity in heaven
Even if the world should fade
Me and you
we'll reminisce
Memories will stay
of those days since
When WE were here

Thank you for reading! I hope you understand that this poem is very important to me and I put this out there for others who have lost someone important to them.
