Regret No Goodbyes
this may be the saddest poem i have ever written.Water pours.
Staining my pillow with tears.
The jagged rocks on the side.
Took you alive.
To take you to their cave deep inside.
All I crave is to hear you one last time.
Give one more hug because the ones given over the years weren't enough.
To save you from the darkness.
So you could muster up your might.
To battle and fight this cancer and kill it from your life.
You always seemed unfazed by this never showing any fright.
But, the water rushed in.
The current taking you away.
Hopefully to a better place.
It falls too far and never stops.
Until whiteness that devours the rocks.
That took you back.
Looking at the water falling is a remembrance of mourning and makes my eyes swell up with tears.
Not of saddness but, of joy.
That you are okay now.
No more suffering.
You may not be here in physical but, you will always be here like a lyrical melody.
That stopped its play many years ago.
But, is still stuck in my mind.
Though my one regret to you.
Is never getting a chance.
To say goodbye.
