The stand beside you
They slowly pass
These people we know are strangers
We say nothing
We don't really care about who they are
What they stand for
We sit there and judge them as we continue to walk by
These equally important souls
All but a forgotten face
Ones that seem to be erased so easily
From our memories
If they would dissapear
Without a trace
Who would come and rescue them?
Who will help them when they are lost?
Do we care for them?
Or de we just watch them walk, not knowing
Whether they will live or die
We let them pass
We can't see their pain
We can't understand
But we continue to judge them
Another voice silenced
And another life lost
Will we feel sympathy?
We will frown and say, "That's too bad."
But really we don't care
For another person
Whose identity will be lost over time
Another life completely forgotten
Erased
So the next time you see a stranger
Say hello
They might be gone the next day
So maybe they can live on through our eyes
If we could only share this one simple word
Who knows
You could be saving a life
