she's not so naive to the world anymore
at 8 she was tramatized
by seeing her grandpa die
she watched him
day by day
as the clock ticked by
and then he was no more
and she witnissed it
at 9 she was scared
her cousin got sick
they told her it was called diabetes
but she had no clue what that was
and one day her cousin came back from the hospital
and he was eating lunch at her house
and he pricked himself
and made blood come out
and then injected this thing in his stomach
she thought he was killing himself
at 11 her grandparents decided to leave her
she thought she did something bad
why would they want to leave me?
she asked God
but she was answered with long distance phone calls
from houses three states away
at 12 her brothers friend had luekemia
and she was scared to death
what if that had been her
or her brother
or her friends?
at 10 she heard about rape
at 11 she read a book about it
at 12 she watched the news
and heard of a man who raped his own daughter
and she didn't understand why a person could be so soulless
she didn't understand how they could let him continue to live
at 13 her and her friends play would you rather
and they come up with some pretty creative stuff
stuff daddy wouldn't think his little girl even had a clue about

daddy wouldn't be too proud of his little girl if he knew what was going on in her bedroom
daddy has no clue of the conversations that she has with her guy friends
daddy has no clue she's been asked out 5 times
