You cannot break me
You cannot tell me I am stupid
You cannot spread a nasty rumor
Because I've got enough friends that they'll tell everyone it'snot true.

You cannot make my cry
You cannot make me laugh so hard I cry
You cannot break this nine-inch steel wall
That's cutting you off from my heart.

You cannot say you love me
You cannot produce another lie
You cannot tell me something
That you told another girl last week.

You cannot make me fall for you once again
You cannot make me fall for your trap
You cannot mesmerize me as you could once before
Because I knew she got the same effect as I did.

Oh, but you can break me.
And I will let you do it.
I will let you take this old, beaten heart
And show it there is some hope
Oh, but you've got to prove yourself.
And I'll be watching closely.
I will be more prepared this time
I know all your little "inconspicious" signals and signs
I'll tell you that there's no way I'm falling for you,,,
But then again,
I do tell myself an occasional lie.
