blue son
your a smart kid
but this town's lookin blue
theres nothing here for me
and no more here for you
we'll go on a trip
in our little gray car
get far outta town
far...far...far
we went through yellow scrubland
a dry and dusty world
where the trees are all bent backward
and sands in twists and swirls
then, i met a man
with a long white life
long white beard and a little blunt knife
he was sitting on the sidewalk, lookin at the ground
i asked him why he was hanging around
he said ' i'm sittin on a fortune that i cant see
with my heart on the floor and my head on my knee'
so we carried on, in our little grey car
gettin outta town
keep goin far
we came upon a pretty
and perfect purple meadow
and a man, in a suit
and shackles and bands
and screamin' n screamin'
at his violent lovely lands
we drove past a cathedral
filled with rosy light
roof to floor with dancers
shining in the night
all those lovely dancers
like closed and lovely flowers
making pictures with they're bodies
building candy towers
the future looks blue son
the future looks blue
nothing is there left
for me or for you
so we started up our little grey car
and we carried on
steady and far
we came to a place
with a flight of orange stairs
and right at the top
a little orange chair
so we climbed and we climbed every
last damn one
took the rising of the moon and
setting of the sun
when we reached it
it wasnt a chair at all
but a tiny, rickety chipped wooden stool
our feet where hurting
so we set off in our car
escaping our blue
reaching out far
we reached a town
to settle for the night
shrouded in mist
and hanging silver light
the drains here son
are blocked with faerie wings
and little silver hands cling on to everything
we must leave this town son
as soon as end of night
i hate this town son
lets leave it at first light
the future looks blue son
the future looks blue
theres nothing here
left for me or for you
i found a green dollar
on a green fence sign
he said 'hows ya doin?'
i said 'doin just fine'
i took the dollar and bought you a little cake
off a man with the eyes and tongue of a snake
then I met a woman with bright red hair
bright red mouth and a bright red stare
the woman had just brough one hell of a car
so i stole that bastard
and drove it on far
but you baby, pined for our little gray car
so i took red back
fast and far
the future looks blue son
the future looks blue
nothing is there left for me or for you
i won two black eyes kid
i won em playing cards
dont you go gettin black eyes yet
you'll be big enough soon
you should be proud of my black eyes kid
i won these eyes for you
we kept on goin, in our little gey car
you where asleep
we kept going far
i wept and i wailed
and i stopped our car
i went for a walk
but not too far
i came across a big blue hare
under a big blue moon on a little blue chair
i asked him ' what was he doin there?'
he said ' you are blue'
i said 'but i have seen all the colours true'
he said ' you where born blue
your son was too
so are all people, this i know to be true
have trust, a'cause its plain to see
that i am blue and blue is me
you can hide from the blue
hide your son from it too
but i tell you
the blue will always, always find you
