The Man with the Accordian
I wrote this a couple of years ago when I had an unusually long creative streak. I like it. I hope everyone does, too!The man with the accordian
played in the park
with his dancing pet monkey
for the people of the dark.
"Such cruelty to animals",
said the people of the day.
And they shunned him in disgust
as his monkey danced away.
When everyone had left,
the people of the night
came out into the park
to face the hazy light.
They came to watch the monkey.
They came to watch the man.
But when the sun began to rise
they put their money in his hand.
With the entire park deserted
the monkey did one last dance.
The Man picked up his money
and as the money pranced,
He cursed the world we live in,
He cursed the morning light,
He wished every person
could be a figure of the night.
