I want to write a poem,
write it line after line,
Not too long of course,
It's hard to make things rhyme.
See! You saw it!
Those words don't go together!
'Line' with its "N", 'rhyme' with its "M"
It's clear the two differ!
This is rather odd - a "poem about a poem"
If I want to write a decent one,
I suppose I have to comb
through many different literary masterpieces,
Take the lines,
And dissect every word
Into tiny, little, bite-size pieces.
I'll invert word order,
Put there verb here,
And subject put there...
I'll go grammar crazy,
And put parts of speech,
Quite frankly...
Absolutely everywhere!
That would be fun,
but awkward to hear...
Then again, sprinkle some thine's and thy's
Et VĂ³ila! Thou hast Shakespeare!
Well, now, I'm bored...hell, I'm no poet.
Sydney, Cummings, Frost,
And Dickenson know it.
I say "screw trimeter!
*Bleh* to tetrameter...
Don't even get me started
On iambic pentameter!"
It seems I'm killing poetry,
Making it drown,
I'll just do the poetry world a favor...
And put my pen down : )
