The Fallen and the Broken
A tear falls from her blue grey eyes,
Thinking of him as she sits and cries.
Her heart has been torn out and stepped on before,
But for some reason now it hurts even more.
There is no expression upon her face,
Her pain and sorrow leave no trace.
She doesn’t stop to stare at him now,
Her mind is racing as she asks herself ‘how’?
She feels no hatred and no grudge she will bear,
And although it appears she doesn’t care,
Just because her heart no longer flies like a dove,
That doesn’t mean she is not still in love.
But rejection has scarred her and long will she bleed,
And empty and loveless life she’ll lead.
The glass has been shattered, split to a shard,
He took her heart and broke it, snapped it very hard.
She’ll live on every day to cry from dusk to dawn,
She will never know what she has until it’s gone.
It eats away at her, pains her to know,
That she could have prevented it, but she let him go.
