I opened my eyes,
And looked all around,
I saw millions of people all on the ground
I tried to get up,
But found I could not,
I turned my head side to side,
And found that like the others,
I was bound,
By ropes, chains, and shackles,
There was nothing I could do,
Except call out to those few,
Already standing,
I have no voice,
So I look around,
A few struggled,
Then gave up,
A few tried to move,
Then gave up,
I didn’t want to give up,
I knew the world,
Invisible things bind me,
They bind us all,
I start to wiggle my wrist,
It will come out someday,
Someday I’ll be free,
I will help others,
Become free as well,
I opened my eyes,
And took my first step,
Towards freedom.
