Memories flood back to me as I cross this street
Remembering this as the spot
Where friends would come to meet
Me and my sister skipping over to play some ball in the heat
This Is My Place
In the heart of the streets
Now no longer is it a place for children like me
Who come with their families to play ball for free
Took it away, paved it over
Look at what you’ve done to me
The kids get involved, got to much time on their hands
Well, You took away out precious land
We ain’t asking for forty acres
We ain’t asking for a mule
Just looking for something to do after a long day in school
The spot where I met the first guy I loved
Is now the spa room
For the rich to get a back rub
You wonder why the children all want in
Its because you took away
All that we’ve ever been
You don’t want us in the street
You don’t want us in the park
If were the light of the Future
Why you keeping us in the dark?
Keep trying to move up
Trying to move away
But how can we
If we all gotta keep cops at bay
Money cant buy happiness
Or so they say
But they must not know our day to day
Memories Flood back to me as I cross this Street
This was my place
Our Place
In the heart of the streets.
