Dear Daddy
A poem about after the effects and time of Emotional Abuse. A poem about myself and my father.Dear Daddy,
I have a confession to make.
Something you probably can no longer believe.
Daddy,
I loved you,
despite your many flaws.
Too great,
too many,
to ever be recorded, I loved you with all my heart
and dreamed pretend that you could love me back
even a quarter as much.
Daddy,
I needed you.
I wore your old t-shirts
and waited for you to come kiss me goodnight
praying that someday you might.
Daddy,
I hoped for you,
I hoped that someday, when I was
big and strong
you could see I was more than just some
little girl
who had no talents to make up for her lack of
beauty.
Daddy,
I hate you.
I hate what you've done and what you didn't do.
You could've.
You had more than enough chances,
yet you chose not to.
Every night when I was a little girl,
I waited faithfully for you.
I waited, I prayed, I stayed.
And now that I'm gone,
Daddy,
do you miss your little girl?
Or do you realize that you never really even
had her
despite her greatest efforts?
I'm gone now Daddy,
and I pray you never make another little girl wait
for something she can't earn.
I have a confession to make.
Something you probably can no longer believe.
Daddy,
