Black Moon
...Lost with my eyes closed
I stumble outside
And am given relief,
As I open my eyes with a twitch,
To gaze upon the sky
Nestled up in the stars
Wrapped in navy and clouds
Is the site that brings me out,
Almost every night
Not a milky white crescent,
Or a bright spot in site
But a darkened light
That sheds only shadows
This is a black moon
It is a warp in time they say
Where the light of the moon,
Was left behind
And in its place
Is a hope for all humankind
For it is told,
That the night the moon left
Everyone's thoughts mixed together
In awe, despair, and wonder
And so it is said,
That if one voice spoke out
The others would follow
Since we've all been connected
In one way or another.
I stumble outside
And am given relief,
As I open my eyes with a twitch,
To gaze upon the sky
Nestled up in the stars
Wrapped in navy and clouds
Is the site that brings me out,
Almost every night
Not a milky white crescent,
Or a bright spot in site
But a darkened light
That sheds only shadows
This is a black moon
It is a warp in time they say
Where the light of the moon,
Was left behind
And in its place
Is a hope for all humankind
For it is told,
That the night the moon left
Everyone's thoughts mixed together
In awe, despair, and wonder
And so it is said,
That if one voice spoke out
The others would follow
Since we've all been connected
In one way or another.
