Broken heart and broken soul,
Stare out of the cold window.
Sky pours tears, like dripping lace
Match those streaks upon her face,
In her mind she falls apart,
Clearing up a shredded heart,
A romantic with boundless hopes,
Ties her in place with tattered ropes,
Never could escape those elaborate seams,
Of lovers and their fairytale dreams,
She smiles and cries at their beauty and romance,
When she knows that she will never get that chance,
Reaches out, she touches the glass,
As if it could heal her heart and past,
Rain trickles in front of her hand,
Tears slip and fall like grains of sand,
Mind and heart churning deep inside,
While her soul runs for a place to hide,
Reality fights with the flawless illusion,
Emotions make up a false conclusion,
“Can’t you see?!” She screams in her head,
“It can NEVER happen!” Her heart stops, dead,
Struggle continues, tears soon become waterfalls,
She mutters so softly, “Damn them all.”
Hand pushes the glass, as if it would find,
That this isn’t real, reality is much more kind,
But the water-laced glass remains unbroken,
She grabs her heart, the unwanted token,
Stares back at the sky, rain falling through,
And whispers quietly, “I just can’t get over you.”
