The very first
It was the very worst
Just a big mistake
I took it for granted
But I saw you there
As you strode down the aisle
And somehow it instantly changed
Pieces of paper
A night's worth of words
Everything I tried to put together
Now a billion little shreds
And we screamed,
"Honk for peace."
And at the back of the classroom
Thoughts were tumbling
Out of my mouth
Sweating, fixing my hair
And you clicked your pen against your teeth
And drove me nuts
