The weather is getting colder and I wonder why. I have a fever and it’s not from the season. This cage is getting smaller and smaller and I can’t seem to escape. Maybe if you took advice then we wouldn’t be in this situation. You are pretty decorated. It’s not the jewels you wear, but the battles you’ve been in. Don’t worry, because you are not alone. I’ve fought plenty by your side.
The timestamp is all wrong. We rewind instead of fast-forward. I’m falling faster than you can say "I got you". I may seem strong on the outside, but inside my foundations have collapsed. You think you know, but you have no idea. The restless nights are too frequent. I wish I could fall asleep for once, but when I shut my eyes I dream about a life I once had and would never have again. I may be American, but I will never be free.
Cold Weather
