Apartment
A girl is walking around the apartment she is moving out of, talking about the memories and laughter and pain that it holds.I spent the day wandering
Around my old apartment.
I was taking in the memories,
Feeling all the fragments.
When I saw the broken lamp,
I remembered when Johnny got drunk
And laughed his way all down the steps,
To the car, and into the trunk.
When I saw the layers of dust
Sitting on my TV set,
I remembered what it was like
To have friends over making a mess.
When I smelled the old sofa,
It heldthe smell of Pepsi and beer.
And the two familiar smells greeted me
And then it came: a tear.
I don't want to leave the memories,
The pain, the love, the laughter;
I just want to live in this old apartment
Happily ever after.
But it's time to start all over.
Yes, it's time to start anew -
It's time to get out of this dump
And start forgetting about you.
Oh, yes, you were in this apartment
At least ahundred million times.
And in this old apartment,
You told a hundred million lies.
You told me how you loved me
And you promised to never leave.
Look how that turned out.
But thetime is over for me to grieve.
I'm moving out of my apartment
At 3:15 today,
And I'll try not to miss the memories
And I'll kneel by my new bed and pray,
"Please, take care ofthat apartment
And make it's owner feelbetter than I.
And take away these memories,
Andthese burdens. Help me fly."
Around my old apartment.
I was taking in the memories,
Feeling all the fragments.
