The Rabbits
The rabbits came many grandparents ago,
At first the natives didn’t know what to think.
They came in ships with billowing sails,
They wore pants, and skirts and hats.
The rabbits lived in houses,
The natives lived in the scrub.
The rabbits raised sheep and crops
The hunter and gatherers trapped what they could find.
The rabbits brought many new things,
The natives barely knew what things were.
They watched as industry was created
The natives backed away into their huts.
The rabbits decided to give the native children a better life,
The natives didn’t like it at all,
Education and manners and religion were not good at all,
So finally the rabbits gave up.
One day the rabbits weakened,
And listened to the natives whine,
They now give them lots of money
And the crime rate started to climb
The natives married rabbits,
They bought the new cds,
They rape and drink and swear,
And idolise blacks from overseas
So now here we are in this hopeless mess,
Who knows if we shall ever be counted as equal,
When the only money to be handed out are to those who truly deserve it,
Not just because of the colour of ones skin – is that not racism?
