Saying goodbye to the light that had reawakened her
Summer was approaching, stabbing sharper than a knife
Bidding her friends goodbye was more terrible than the stress.
Summer was coming, with it bringing darkness
Abandonment was a feeling she was not prepared to endure
Anything to see them again, not to let them disappear
Her parents were rational, telling her that two months was not long,
She could get through it if she really tried,
But her mind was screaming at her, telling her to end her suffering now
Begging her to let go and stop trying to float in a sea of misery.
But she had to try to hold on, for fear her life would go if her mind did
She could not bear the thought of putting anyone through this much pain
Her companions pled for her to continue going on,
But she knew that she wasn't near strong enough.
The hole in her chest was too much to bear,
Just thinking of the dark was enough to send it screaming
Lonliness was too much for her aching heart to handle,
But still she had to try.
Going by, day by day, celebrating with everyone else,
Wishing there was a sane way to erase the pain,
Smiling to cover the dreadful sorrow in her soul,
Becuse she had to hold on, save herself...
...prevent her flame from being extinguished forever.
