She went home in the morning
And as she walked away
I told her I'd loved her all along
She called when she got home
She said that when she got in her car
She realized what I'd meant
And then we talked all through that week
Our love only growing stronger
Or so I thought
I fought with my family to spend time with her
But always lost the day before
And a week later I got the call
The one I'd always dreaded
My best friend called and told me
My love's lost love took her back
I didn't believe it
I thought she'd never do that to me
I got off the phone
And then she called
And told what had happened
They babysat at a hotel over the weekend
And he asked to have her back
As they stood by the river she told him yes
As she told me this
My heart was ripped from my chest
She finished up with them kissing
Then falling asleep in each others arms
I felt my world go into safe mode
I wouldn't belive it but I had to
It wouldn't sink in
She was The one I loved
The one who I'd come to trust
The one who was more like me than almost anyone
The one who listened to whatever I asked or said
The one who shared that magical night with me
And those days and evenings on the phone
The one who I'd fought to be with
She could no longer be there
She could no longer spend magical nights with me
And she would no longer share our old phone traditions
She was gone
His
For Always
She stopped talking to me
And a week later it finally sank in what was happening
I called her and when she finally answered
I remembered exactly what was said
She told me "I love you but I'm not in love with you"
That killed me
A few seconds later she said "I love you"
And I responded
"I love you too...you just have no idea"
And a few minutes later she had to go
We, as always, exchanged our 'I love yous'
She said she'd call back tomorrow and I said okay
I got off the phone and cried
Thus ending part two of this series of poems
