Edward slowly walked throughout the streets of Vinnecio. The town was small and peaceful, not many people knew about it. It was near the sea, Ed liked spending time on the 'Sea Wall,' which divided the town and the beach. He made his way up the metal stairs to the top. Usually he'd sit and watch the clouds roll by but, today was different. Someone else was there. Ed stopped when he reached top, unable to take his eyes away from the girl standing near the edge, gazing out at the water, softly singing. Beautiful was the only word Ed could think of the describe the girl, and her singing.
"Ano umi dokomademo aokatta tokumade
Ano michi dokomademo tsuzuiteta massuguni
Ichiban hayaku sunaoni waratta monotachi
Ichiban sukina anohito waratteru
Dare yorimo toku e ittemo koko kara mata waratte kureru
Hitomi o tojireba futto natsu no hi no nioi
Ano kawa asonderu futari kiri doro darake
Ano kumo otteiru todoitara shiawase to
Ichiban hayaku kono saka nobotta monotachi
Ichiban sukina ano basho mezashite
Takusan no omoide ga aru hoka ni ha nani mo iranai kurai
Hitomi o tojireba sugu ano umi no nioi
Mata natsu ga kuru gin iro ni hikaru
Minamo ni utsusu futaribun no kage
Dare yorimo toku ni ittemo kokokara mata waratte kureru
Hitomi o tojireba futto ano hi no aozora."
He didn't exactly understand what the song meant, but it seemed familiar to him. He wanted to say something, but he didn't know what. So, he said the first thing that came to mind.
"Are you an angel?" Well, not the best thing to ask someone, but I guess it's a start. She slowly turned to him, smiling warmly.
"I'm no angel, just a girl from outta town." She said keeping the smile. Ed blushed slightly, embarrassed.
"Oh, uhm, sorry." He mumbled, shoving his hands in his pockets, looking down. He heard her laugh quietly, his blush deepened.
"I'm sorry, am I in your spot?" She asked tilted her head to the side.
"N-No, you can stay...if you want." He said after looking up. She smiled, and he felt his stomache flip.
"I'm Hikari Ichizo, and you are?" She asked as they both sat down, letting their legs hang over the ledge.
"Uhm, Edward Elric." He noticed her eyes widen, and her fist began to shake. "Are you okay?" She took in a breath, then slowly let it out.
"Yes, I'm fine. It's just...you're a State Alchemist. My family and I, haven't had the best luck with the military." She said quietly, looking at the sky. Ed sighed.
"I'm no one to be afraid of. Just because of something someone in the military did, doesn't mean everyone in it is bad."
"Oh, no. I'm not afraid of the military, especially not of you. But, if I got the chance to get back at the man who caused my family pain, I wouldn't hesitate...in killing him." That caught Ed's attention. He looked at her in surprise. She looked at her lap sadly. Ed reached out and took her hand. (Even though the inner him was screaming not to) He blushed slightly as she looked at him surprised. He shook his head.
"You're no murderer." He said softly. Her eyes widened, then softened as she turned her body to face him, leaned foward and layed her head on his shoulder. He blinked before turning to her and letting her fall slightly, into his arms. She closed her eyes. It took a moment for Ed to realize she was crying. "Hikari..."
"I'm sorry...this..this is.."
"Perfectly fine." He stated bringing her closer as he stroked her hair. They sat there for a few long minutes, before she suddenly pulled away.
"I..I have to go..." His eyes saddened.
"Will you be here tomorrow?"
"...Yes." She answered smiling. He smiled back. They both slowly stood, and faced the sunset.
"Beautiful.."
"Yea, it is."
"Not the sunset." He murmured, taking her hand. Her cheeks grew pink as she stared at him in surprise. Even though Ed just met her, he felt something between them. He just didn't know what. His left hand went up to her cheek as he slowly leaned in, brushing his lips against her own. Her eyes glistened in the light as the slowly closed. She gently kissed back. They broke away a moment later. She stepped back and smiled.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Edo." She whispered as she walked past him, towards the stairs. He turned around to face her.
"Are you sure your not an angel?" She looked at him and smiled slightly.
"Positive."
